Ocho is delighted to be working on behalf of our client to recruit a Data & Analytics Engineer to join a growing technology team focused on building a modern, scalable data platform. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys owning the full data lifecycle, from source system ingestion through to trusted, report-ready datasets that drive business decision-making.

Rather than being tied to a single reporting tool, you'll focus on creating a robust data foundation, governed semantic models and self-service analytics capabilities that empower teams across the organisation. This is an opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future of the organisation's data function, establishing standards, improving governance and helping the business unlock greater value from its data.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain data pipelines that ingest and transform data from databases, APIs, SaaS platforms, files and other business systems.
  • Design and develop scalable ETL and ELT processes using modern data engineering tools and cloud platforms.
  • Create dimensional models, semantic layers and reusable datasets that provide consistent business metrics across the organisation.
  • Develop efficient SQL and transformation logic to support analytics, reporting and business intelligence requirements.
  • Implement automated data quality controls, validation frameworks and monitoring processes.
  • Optimise platform performance through effective modelling, query tuning and infrastructure design.
  • Manage deployments across environments and support CI/CD and DataOps practices.
  • Configure security, governance and access controls to ensure data integrity and compliance.
  • Build trusted datasets that enable self-service analytics across Power BI and other reporting platforms.
  • Work closely with business stakeholders to translate business questions into measurable KPIs and actionable insights.
  • Maintain data dictionaries, lineage documentation and governance standards.
  • Support technical mentoring, code reviews and continuous improvement initiatives within the wider team.
The Person We Are Looking For
  • Strong commercial experience working with modern cloud-based data platforms such as Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake, Databricks, Synapse or BigQuery.
  • Advanced SQL skills with experience optimising queries and designing scalable data models.
  • Strong understanding of dimensional modelling, semantic layers and data warehousing principles.
  • Experience building ETL or ELT pipelines using tools such as dbt, Power Query, Spark, Azure Data Factory or Fabric Pipelines.
  • Experience implementing data quality, governance and security controls.
  • Strong understanding of reporting and analytics platforms, particularly Power BI and self-service analytics environments.
  • Experience working with APIs, SaaS applications and multiple enterprise data sources.
  • Comfortable engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving and analytical skills.
Desirable Experience
  • Experience with Azure, AWS or GCP.
  • Exposure to orchestration tools such as Airflow, Dagster or Fabric Pipelines.
  • Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines and DataOps practices.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Purview, Unity Catalog or similar governance tools.
  • Experience working with streaming or near real-time data.
  • Exposure to AI-assisted analytics and modern self-service data capabilities.
Salary & Benefits
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Flexible working arrangements.
  • Opportunity to help shape the future data strategy of a growing organisation.
  • Exposure to modern cloud data technologies and enterprise-scale data initiatives.
