Role Overview:
We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join the Identity & Security team, taking ownership of the authentication, authorisation and identity platforms that protect access across the business's global network. This is a hands-on, technically-led role for someone who has spent years deep in identity and access management and wants to shape the architecture, not just implement it. You will work across a Java/React/AWS stack, guiding engineering teams on secure-by-design practices and mentoring talent along the way.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own, design, implement and support major components of the identity and access management platform.
- Define authentication and authorisation patterns (OAuth2, OIDC, SSO, JWT, MFA) across client-facing and internal systems.
- Lead the design of token issuance, validation and session management across services.
- Guide identity and security architecture decisions using strong Java, React and AWS expertise.
- Partner with security, platform and product teams to embed secure-by-design practices into the SDLC.
- Drive engineering best practice and mentor engineers across the team.
What You Will Need:
Essential:
- 7+ years building and supporting scalable, distributed systems.
- Deep hands-on experience with Java (Spring Boot) and modern JavaScript/React.
- Strong grounding in identity and access management: OAuth2, OIDC, SAML, SSO, JWT, MFA.
Desirable:
- AWS security services experience (IAM, Cognito, KMS, Secrets Manager).
- Familiarity with OWASP Top 10 and threat modelling.
- Prior technical leadership or mentorship experience.
