Staff and Senior Quality Assurance Engineers, AI Agent Security Platform (Exciting NEW US Cyber FDI)

At-a-Glance

  • Staff and senior level, hands-on quality engineering leader across a new multi-tenant SaaS platform
  • Focus: test automation architecture, performance, resilience and security testing for distributed cloud services
  • Hybrid, Belfast
  • Competitive salary plus bonus

Define how quality is done on a brand new AI security platform at a global security leader.

About the Company

Our client is a global leader in identity, payments and data security, trusted by governments, banks and enterprises around the world. With decades of expertise in public key infrastructure, digital identity and cryptographic security, it protects the people, devices and transactions modern business runs on. It is now bringing that expertise to AI, building a trusted foundation for agent identity, authority, execution and assurance, and is growing a team in Northern Ireland to deliver it.

The Role

As a Senior or Staff Quality Assurance Engineer you'll provide cross-team technical leadership for quality engineering across the new platform, while staying deeply hands-on. You'll define the automation architecture and risk-based quality strategy that keeps a multi-tenant SaaS platform secure, reliable and scalable under demanding production conditions. You'll work with Product, the Platform Architect, Engineering, Security and Cloud Operations, owning complex quality challenges that span services and teams. You'll influence release decisions with clear evidence of risk and readiness. It suits an engineer who builds frameworks rather than just running tests.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own cross-team quality strategy, automation architecture and risk-based coverage for distributed SaaS services, APIs and SDKs
  • Design and build reusable automation frameworks, test libraries, service simulators and deterministic test data
  • Embed unit, integration, contract, API, end-to-end and regression testing into CI/CD with meaningful quality gates
  • Lead performance and scalability testing, including load, stress, spike, soak and capacity, against agreed service objectives
  • Define resilience testing for dependency failures, network disruption, timeouts, partial outages and graceful degradation
  • Partner with Security to validate identity, delegated authorisation, tenant isolation and evidence integrity, including negative and boundary cases
  • Establish production-representative test environments and validate upgrades, migrations, backward compatibility and rollback
  • Lead complex defect investigations using logs, traces and metrics, and drive cross-team root-cause analysis
  • Build quality reporting that makes coverage, escaped defects, performance risk and release readiness transparent
  • Mentor quality and software engineers and lead test-design reviews

What You'll Need

Essential:

  • 5-10+ years' software quality engineering or development experience, including hands-on automation and cross-team technical leadership
  • Advanced programming skills in at least one modern language, building scalable automation frameworks rather than record-and-playback
  • Deep experience testing cloud-native SaaS at scale: distributed systems, APIs, asynchronous workflows and multi-tenancy
  • Proven expertise in performance, scalability and resilience testing, including workload design and reading production telemetry
  • Strong knowledge of CI/CD, containers, test-environment orchestration, test-data management and service virtualisation
  • The ability to lead ambiguous initiatives, communicate risk clearly and influence release decisions without positional authority
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

Desirable / Nice to Have:

  • Experience with identity, PKI, cryptography, OAuth 2.x, mTLS, workload identity or HSM-backed services
  • Kubernetes, infrastructure as code and chaos or fault-injection testing (e.g. Chaos Monkey) for high-availability SaaS
  • Familiarity with agentic AI, MCP or non-deterministic workflows, or producing verification evidence for regulated products
