Senior Back-end Security Engineer β Java / Kotlin / Golang
Overview
We\βre working with a fast-growing Cloud Security Client on the hunt for an experienced Senior Backend Engineer to join their world-class engineering team.
This is a rare opportunity to shape the architecture and scalability of a runtime-powered Cloud-Native Application Protection Platform used by global enterprise customers.
As part of a highly skilled, collaborative team, you\βll work on complex backend challenges using modern Java/Kotlin in a fully cloud-native environment with exposure to cutting-edge tools and real-world security impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the full lifecycle of backend services, from design and development through to deployment, monitoring, and optimisation
- Contribute to architectural direction and technical decision-making across microservices
- Conduct peer design and code reviews as part of a high-trust, high-performing team
- Collaborate with DevOps, frontend, and product teams to deliver scalable and secure features
- Continuously improve system performance, reliability, and efficiency in production at scale
Essential Skills & Experience
- Experience building high-performance backend systems using Java, Kotlin, or Golang
- Strong understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and modern deployment workflows
- Experience working with data-intensive systems β including databases, messaging queues, and event-driven services
- Proven ability to deliver production-grade services in a microservices-based architecture
- Comfortable working in CI/CD pipelines and containerised environments (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes)
- Collaborative mindset and a strong sense of ownership and initiative
Desirable Skills
- Exposure to systems like Neo4j, ElasticSearch, TimescaleDB, RabbitMQ, Redis
- Experience working on security-focused platforms or distributed cloud infrastructure
- Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools at scale
