Ocho is partnering with a global technology organisation to hire a Contract Senior Java Engineer to join a high-performing engineering team working on large-scale enterprise platforms within a real-time data environment. This is an opportunity to work on complex, business-critical systems while gaining exposure to modern cloud technologies, DevOps tooling and large-scale distributed architectures. Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, build and maintain scalable Java applications
  • Develop new features and enhancements across enterprise platforms
  • Contribute to architecture, resilience and system design discussions
  • Work with cloud-native technologies and containerised environments
  • Participate in CI/CD pipeline development and automation initiatives
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams to troubleshoot and improve production systems
  • Mentor engineers and contribute to engineering best practices
  • Research and evaluate new technologies and tooling

Person We Are Looking For:

  • Strong commercial experience with Java development
  • Experience building scalable backend or distributed systems
  • Exposure to cloud environments and modern engineering practices
  • Strong understanding of clean code, testing and maintainability
  • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tooling
  • Comfortable working in Agile, collaborative engineering environments
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience with Kubernetes, Docker or containerised platforms
  • Exposure to Google Cloud Platform or other cloud providers
  • Knowledge of automation tooling such as Jenkins or Argo
  • Experience within financial services or real-time data environments
  • Familiarity with Atlassian tools such as Jira and Confluence
