Fish in Crieff (Ochil Foods Ltd) is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced retail manager to lead our fish shop in Crieff. This is a hands-on role at the heart of a well-loved, independent Scottish food business that has been trading since 1978. If you’re passionate about great food, enjoy working with customers, and want to build real skills in fresh fish and seafood, this could be the perfect next step for you.
What you’ll be doing:
- Leading, motivating and supporting a team of 3–4 staff
- Serving customers and taking orders for collection and delivery
- Maintaining the fresh fish display and retail presentation throughout the day
- Stock rotation, date checking, and ordering retail products as needed
- Daily temperature checks and cleaning duties in line with food hygiene standards
- Opening and closing procedures and general shop management
As you settle into the role, you’ll also receive one-to-one training from our head filleter in fish preparation skills including shucking oysters and scallops, peeling and deveining prawns and langoustines, and skinning, pin-boning and portioning fish fillets.
What we’re looking for:
- A background in food retail, fishmonger, deli, butchery or similar
- Experience leading or supervising a small team
- A genuine passion for quality food and excellent customer service
- Good communication skills and a positive, can-do attitude
- Commercial awareness — you’ll understand what sells and why
- Food hygiene certificate desirable, though training can be provided
