If you’re passionate about great food, enjoy working with customers, and want to build real skills in fresh fish and seafood, this could be the perfect next step for you.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll be responsible for the day-to-day running of the shop Tuesday - Saturday 7am - 4:30pm. Leading a small team of 3–4 staff, keeping standards high, the display looking its best, and customers coming back. Your duties will include:

  • Leading, motivating and supporting a team of 3–4 staff
  • Serving customers and taking orders for collection and delivery
  • Maintaining the fresh fish display and retail presentation throughout the day
  • Stock rotation, date checking, and ordering retail products as needed
  • Daily temperature checks and cleaning duties in line with food hygiene standards
  • Opening and closing procedures and general shop management

As you settle into the role, you’ll also receive one-to-one training from our head filleter in fish preparation skills including shucking oysters and scallops, peeling and deveining prawns and langoustines, and skinning, pin-boning and portioning fish fillets.

What we’re looking for

  • A background in food retail, fishmonger, deli, butchery or similar
  • Experience leading or supervising a small team
  • A genuine passion for quality food and excellent customer service
  • Good communication skills and a positive, can-do attitude
  • Commercial awareness — you’ll understand what sells and why
  • Food hygiene certificate desirable, though training can be provided

What we offer

  • £13–£15 per hour, negotiable, depending on experience
  • Staff discount on our range of fresh fish, seafood and speciality food products
  • One-to-one training in professional fish preparation from our head filleter
  • A friendly, close-knit team in a well-established independent business
  • The chance to develop genuinely rare skills in a specialist food trade

Why join us?
