OCEM Ltd is a rapidly growing Outreach Tutoring Provision, working primarily across the Home Counties. We are expanding at pace and are seeking self-employed tutors to work on an outreach basis, providing 1:1 tuition in Hampshire and the South East of England. It would be beneficial to have experience working with young people, but not essential, as training will be provided.

You must have a current enhanced DBS to apply for this position, or willing to apply for one.

The positions are for up to 15 hours per week, per student, with a maximum of 2 students per tutor. You will be required to undertake online training, including Safeguarding. Owning your own car would be advantageous, but not essential, as there are good transport links.

Duties:

  • Plan and implement engaging and effective lessons for the student
  • Work 1:1 with the student to provide literacy, numeracy, and mentorship
  • Communicate with parents and the line manager to ensure the best possible outcomes for the student
  • Create a positive and supportive learning environment
  • Provide sickness cover
  • Write brief daily reports

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children and young people with SEMH in similar settings e.g. PRUs, alternative provisions, and specialist provisions, would be beneficial. However, training and support will be provided as necessary
  • Patience, resilience, understanding, with an empathic approach
  • Knowledge of SEND
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Flexibility, be prepared to travel to provide cover for tutoring sessions
