OCEM Ltd is seeking self-employed tutors to work on an outreach basis, providing 1:1 tuition in Essex. It would be beneficial to have experience of working with young people, but not essential, as training will be provided. The positions are for up to 15 hours per week, per student, with a maximum of 2 students per tutor.
OCEM implements safeguarding protocols in all aspects of our working practices, and we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All successful applicants will require an enhanced DBS check, and this may include social media checks. Online training - including Safeguarding will be mandatory. Owning your own car would be advantageous, but not essential, if you are prepared to travel by public transport.
Duties:- Plan and implement engaging and effective lessons for the student
- Work 1:1 with the student to provide literacy, numeracy, and mentorship
- Communicate with parents and the line manager to ensure the best possible outcomes for the student
- Create a positive and supportive learning environment
- Provide sickness cover
- Write brief daily reports
- Experience working with children and young people with SEMH needs in similar settings. PRUs, alternative provisions, and specialist provisions would be beneficial.
- Patience, resilience, understanding, with an empathic approach
- Trauma-based approach experience desirable but not essential
- Knowledge of SEND
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Flexibility, be prepared to travel to provide cover for tutoring sessions
GCSE or equivalent (preferred)
Experience:Teaching/Tutoring: 1 year (preferred) SEMH needs, ASD, ADHD: 1 year (required)
Language:English (preferred)
Willingness to travel:100% (preferred)
