We are looking for two product design/engineering students to fill this placement internship role. All disciplines of design and engineering will be considered, but candidates must be:

  • Proficient with CAD 3D modelling Software (Solidworks Preferred)
  • Proficient with Adobe Photoshop and Adobe suite
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of Design for manufacture and low-cost production
  • Display good communication skills to relay design intent and interpret instructions
  • Be flexible with your role and be able to work on several concurrently running projects
  • Design and model firearm components, accessories and marketing materials
  • Produce accurate and considered engineering drawings
  • Test fire and perform quality and wear checks on firearms
  • Liaise with international manufacturers to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget, ensuring quality throughout

You should be flexible with your job role, as you will often jump between tasks when you are needed most. This is an entry-level job, so no work experience is required, but please send copies of your design portfolio and CV, as well as any other information you feel will help your application.

At Oceania Defence we specialize in the import, export and modification of section 1, 2 and 5 firearms. We also deal in the design and manufacture of firearms and accessories. We operate purely in the civilian market and do not provide products to the military.

This internship is unpaid although housing will be provided with bills included as well as Sky TV, Netflix, and full fibre broadband. A weekly food budget of Β£40 will be given. A travel card from zones 1-3 will also be provided. However, if you choose to stay at another residence, travel fares up to 1.5 hours each way will be covered.

Due to the size of the company, your role will be extremely varied and will come with a high degree of responsibility and freedom to approach design tasks in your own way. You will be working alongside an engineering and marketing intern. You will be working directly under the company directors and will have exposure to decades worth of experience in manufacturing, marketing and the firearms industry, through the company itself, and business partners.
