Job Description:

Design Engineer Intern/ Placement Student

Oceania Defence Ltd – Ealing, Greater London

Salary: Unpaid

We are looking for a product design/engineering student to fill this placement internship role. All Disciplines of design and engineering will be considered, but candidates must be:

– Proficient with CAD 3D modelling Software (Solidworks Preferred)

– Able to read and produce technical drawings and be familiar with GD&T symbology

– Demonstrate a clear understanding of Design for manufacture and low-cost production

– Able to work independently and be highly responsible for their own actions

– Display good verbal communication skills to relay intent and interpret instructions

– Be flexible with your role and be able to work on several concurrently running projects

– Able to pass a UK background check

– An interest in Firearms is encouraged but not essential

Due to the size of the company your role will be extremely varied and will come with a high degree of responsibility and freedom to approach design tasks in your own way. You will be working alongside and engineering and marketing intern. You will have to cooperate closely to achieve tasks and have a realistic understanding of you and your partners strengths and weaknesses to identify who is more suited to certain tasks and share these appropriately. You will also gain the opportunity to be directly involved with the products throughout every stage of the lifecycle, from initial ideation, all the way through to sales. You will be working directly under the company directors and will have exposure to decades worth of experience in manufacturing, marketing and the firearms industry, through the company itself, and business partners.

Typical day will include:

– Design and model firearm components, accessories and marketing materials

– Produce accurate and considered engineering drawings

– Use rapid prototyping technologies to test your designs

– Assemble, repair and maintain a wide range of different weapon platforms

– Test fire and perform quality and wear checks on firearms

– Liaise with international manufacturers to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget, ensuring quality throughout

You should be flexible with your job role, as you will often jump between tasks when you are needed most

This is an entry-level job, so no work experience is required, but please send copies of you design portfolio and CV, as well as any other information you feel will help your application.

About Us:

At Oceania Defence we specialize in the import, export and modification of section 1, 2 and 5 firearms. We also deal in the design and manufacture of firearms and accessories. We operate purely in civilian market and do not provide products to military.

This internship is Unpaid although Housing will be provided with bills included as well as Sky TV, Netflix, and full fibre broadband. A weekly food budget of £50 will be given. A Travel card from zones 3 to 1 will also be provided. However, if you choose to stay at another residence travel fairs up to 1.5 hours each way will be covered.

We appreciate this internship is unpaid for however, we have summed up the worth of this package to roughly equate to 18,000 pounds.
