The primary responsibility of the Workshop Master Scheduler is to manage and optimize the workflow of maintenance and new build activities through the workshop. This is achieved by ensuring a seamless, efficient, and cost‑effective process, thoroughly managing and analyzing workshop forecasts, conducting precise capacity planning, and managing resources accurately. The role requires close collaboration with various Oceaneering departments to align schedules, anticipate and mitigate potential bottlenecks, and ensure that the workshop operates at peak efficiency. By aligning business priorities with strategic resource allocation, the Workshop Master Scheduler plays a crucial role in achieving the organization’s operational and financial goals.
Responsibilities
- Identify, understand, communicate and adhere to workshop requirements with respect to the schedule.
- Produce a schedule which is compliant with workshop and customer requirements.
- Liaise with the Project Manager, Material Planner, Production Controller, Inventory Controller, Engineering teams and any sub‑contractors to gather the information necessary to produce and maintain a realistic and reflective project schedule.
- Attend Tender and Project kick‑off meetings to ensure workshop planning input criteria is fully understood and met.
- Prepare short and long‑term resource allocation plans based on input from all stakeholders.
- Continually monitor schedule performance, progress and report accurate and measurable schedule status. Ensure that the workshop schedule is subject to revision and that only the current revision is available for review.
- Proactively identify and highlight risk areas and opportunities for improvement.
- Accept, reject and stop work scopes based on projects ability to meet and maintain minimum “clean to start” criteria.
- Define and communicate resource requirements necessary to meet the demands of the project timescales.
- Conduct weekly workshop planning meetings with key stakeholders to ensure full planning transparency.
- Participate in all HSEQ initiatives.
- Participate in daily workshop meetings (toolbox talks, safety stand downs, etc.).
- Where appropriate raise non‑conformance reports to follow up discrepancies found within processes.
- Develop product knowledge of assigned items and commodities.
- Champion continuous improvement for the purpose of refining relevant processes.
- Promote and encourage communication between all stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Strong demonstrated critical thinking and logic skills with a proven track record of success in a complex production and assembly LEAN environment.
- Demonstrable knowledge of the following gained through APM PMQ certification or higher: Project planning, Resource planning, Risk management, Managing stakeholder conflict.
- Excellent negotiating, communication (verbal and written) and organizational skills.
- Handling of multiple tasks and responsibilities in an effective and efficient manner.
- Finding solutions to facilitate continuous improvement.
- Fluency in Primavera P6 and Excel to provide prompt accurate and regular information.
- Fully conversant with Earned Value and the ability to analyse the performance of the project.
