Duties And Responsibilities

Purpose

To ensure efficient machining and preparation pf mechanical testing and metallurgical samples, including assisting the Test House Manager with daily tasks.

Functions

  • Produce mechanical test samples to sizes and tolerances specified using appropriate machining equipment including bandsaws, lathes and horizontal milling machines.
  • Machine and polish specimens to appropriate surface finishes.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with Oceaneering operating procedures, relevant specifications, and client requirements.
  • Undertake any other duties of a reasonable nature as required by management including NDT (after appropriate training).
  • Carry out work in accordance with the Company Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Systems.
  • Ensure that all test house equipment is kept in good condition, regularly checked for accuracy and calibrated against known standards.
  • Carry out work in a timely and efficient manner in order to meet deadlines, changing priorities when the situation requires.
  • Perform mechanical testing as directed by the Test House Manager.
  • Maintain and implementation of technical standards.

Safety

Ensure that the Safety policies and procedures are understood and adhered to so far as is reasonably practicable in order to ensure a safe working environment.

Other

  • Carry out work in accordance with the Company Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Systems.
  • Perform the assigned tasks with due diligence regarding the Integrated Management Systems on the Company.
  • Eliminate waste of whatever form, to suggest the use of more environmentally friendly substances and practices and contribute to the continuous improvement of the environment.

Qualifications

  • GCSE pass in English, Math’s and Science

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

  • Information from management is shared with employees and others as appropriate
  • Gives and receives constructive feedback
  • Ensures that others involved in a project or effort are kept informed about developments and plans
  • Ensures that regular consistent communication takes place within area of responsibility
  • Undergo and pass a medical examination.
  • Good working and understanding of Microsoft packages i.e., Word and Excel.
