Key Responsibilities and Competencies required for the Role include but are not limited to as outlined below, the job title will be required to fulfil other duties as required to meet the needs of OII, and any other company within OII’s portfolio:
- Strategic Leadership & Direction: Set the strategic direction for engineering, design, and project delivery functions, ensuring alignment with company growth plans and operational priorities. Translate business objectives into actionable plans. Provide senior leadership input to business development, commercial strategy, and long‑term client partnerships.
- Governance, Assurance & Technical Integrity: Own the technical assurance framework, ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal procedures. Oversee project delivery governance, ensuring consistent application of planning, reporting, risk, and change management processes. Act as approval authority for high‑risk technical decisions, deviations, and escalated delivery issues.
- Cross‑Functional Integration & Coordination: Ensure seamless alignment between engineering, design, project delivery, operations, commercial, and R&D functions. Lead integrated planning across all technical and delivery teams, resolving resource conflicts and prioritising workload. Drive harmonisation of workflows, tools, and processes across the organisation.
- Performance Management: Maintain a functional‑level view of all engineering scopes and project delivery activities. Monitor performance metrics, cost trends, schedule adherence, and technical quality across all active work. Lead functional‑level risk, opportunity, and change management, ensuring proactive mitigation and escalation.
- People Leadership, Capability & Competency: Provide leadership to the Operations, Survey, Delivery and Technical Managers, ensuring clarity of expectations, accountability, and performance. Own competency frameworks for engineering, design, project management, and project controls. Lead succession planning, recruitment strategy, and talent development across technical and delivery functions. Promote a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, and professional excellence.
- Client, Commercial & Stakeholder Engagement: Act as senior escalation point for clients on technical and delivery matters. Support BD and commercial teams during tendering, proposals, and client onboarding. Ensure engineering and delivery models align with commercial strategy, contractual obligations, and client expectations. Identify opportunities for added value, innovation, and long‑term partnership development.
- Innovation, R&D & Continuous Improvement: Set the innovation roadmap for engineering and delivery functions, ensuring alignment with OII’s strategic objectives. Prioritise R&D investment and support the development of new products, tools, and methodologies. Lead continuous improvement initiatives across technical and delivery workflows, systems, and processes.
- Quality, Safety & Compliance: Champion a safety‑first culture across all engineering and delivery teams. Ensure compliance with Company and Contract Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality policies and procedures. Participate in incident investigations, audits, and HSE leadership activities as required.
- P/L Leadership: Own the full P&L statement (revenue, costs, margin, EBITDA). Set and deliver budget, forecast, and financial targets as per AOP expectations. Drive profitable growth. Manage operating expenses and capital allocation. Lead corrective actions when performance deviates from AOP. Present monthly business review (MBR) to line management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree plus extensive industry related experience.
- Leadership credibility: Considerable experience in leading diverse, multi-regional teams.
- Considerable program and/or portfolio management experience.
- Fundamental understanding of Lean, Six Sigma, and/or Process Flow.
- Proven experience in client interactions and support of bid opportunities.
- Proficiency with MS Office.
- Working knowledge of major business management software packages.
- Working knowledge of Enovia or similar document management software.
- Ability to travel domestically and overseas up to 20% of the year.
