Duties And Responsibilities

To carry out thorough examinations of cranes and lifting equipment in accordance with applicable legislative standards, company procedures and client procedures where applicable. A Senior Lifting Equipment Inspector is someone who has the appropriate qualifications, training, skills, experience, and satisfactory knowledge of the requirements of the inspections they are authorised to carry out. Senior Lifting Equipment Inspector is expected to lead inspection scopes and supervise a team of less experienced inspectors in both onshore and offshore environments.

Functions

  • Carry out work in accordance with statutory requirements, Oceaneering operating procedures and client specifications / requirements.
  • Direct contact with Client Focal Point, Inspection Engineers and Project Managers to communicate all aspects of the inspection scope.
  • Work within and operate Oceaneering documented procedures and database in a capable manner.
  • Ensure inspection is carried out within the parameters of the applicable specification.
  • Produce a clear and concise report detailing the methods used, results of the inspection, and all findings noting any limitations / test restrictions as applicable.
  • Carry out work in a timely and efficient manner to meet deadlines, changing priorities when the situation requires.
  • Work alone and as part of a team in a safe, efficient, and effective manner.
  • Provide constructive feedback on improvements to current processes and procedures.
  • Training and mentoring less experienced inspectors and assist with on-site monitoring / development.
  • Assist with witness assessments & competence assessments of personnel.
  • Undertake any other duties of a reasonable nature as required by Supervision or Management.
  • Carry out all work in accordance with the Company Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Systems.

  • Ensure that the Safety policies and procedures are understood and adhered to in order to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Carry out task-based risk assessments, operate within the confines of client safe systems of work, deliver toolbox talks and Take II to the work party, and ensure all members of the team fully understand their roles and responsibilities.
  • Ensure inspection is carried out within the parameters of the applicable specification.
  • Ensure that work area is safe to carry out activities.
  • Prior to packing any returned equipment check labelling is accurate, and all equipment has been verified.

  • Carry out work in accordance with the Company Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Systems.
  • Perform the assigned tasks with due diligence regarding the Integrated Management Systems on the Company.
  • Eliminate waste of whatever form, to suggest the use of more environmentally friendly substances and practices and contribute to the continuous improvement of the environment.
  • Undertake any other duties of a reasonable nature as required by Management.
  • Qualifications

  • Minimum Industry Safety Training (MIST)
  • Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET)
  • Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System (CAEBS)
  • Bi-Deltoid Shoulder Measurement
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in lifting equipment examination scopes.
  • LEEA Foundation Course
  • IRATA Rope Access Level 2 / 3
  • MPI – SNT or PCN Level 2
  • Eye Test
  • Flexible approach, team player with strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Confident in written and spoken English
  • IT literate with good understanding of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Visio etc.)

  • Professionally Registered for Engineering Technician.
  • Wire rope socketing trained
  • Crane Inspection trained
  • Knowledge of legislation, standards, codes of practice and guidance application to the inspection scopes.
  • Ability to detect and categorise defects, types of defects, defect acceptance criteria, and knowledge of failure modes within their capability and competence.
