The Quality Control Supervisor will provide support to the manufacturing and service business units by implementing Oceaneering's Quality Management System (QMS) & related tools/processes to accelerate business results, as well as develop inspection and testing plans (ITPs) and supervising inspection resources to verify material and product quality of goods received, manufactured and fabrications.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and delegate the workload of Quality Control Inspectors in services and manufacturing business units.
  • Manage a team of quality inspectors and support teams by integrating, aligning, coordinating and adjusting resources based upon the critical needs of the organization.
  • Develop, maintain, ensure implementation and evaluate conformance to inspection and testing plans (ITPs), Incoming Quality Control plan (IQCPs) in SmartSolve, quality plans and interpret inspection results.
  • Ensure the independent asset, product, and component inspection function is in accordance with industry standards, regulatory statutes, and customer requirements.
  • Understand when and how to establish requirements of gage calibration and perform, validate Measurement System Analysis (MSA).
  • Identify and validate needs for gages and procure, as necessary.
  • Define, record, track and inform the Quality Engineers, Managers of non-conformances when material/product is not in compliance with specifications or drawings.
  • Coordinate scheduling activities to ensure proper QC coverage for all manufacturing and purchasing activities.
  • Act as a working supervisor, including participating in the physical measurement inspection and testing activities as needed.
  • Directly involved in monitoring QC personnel when they are performing inspection and test activities in areas outside of their normal assigned area.
  • Maintain the QMS system by reviewing, verifying, approving, and developing or facilitating the development of procedures, as necessary.
  • Identify competency needs for quality inspector positions, coach, mentor and establish development plans.
  • Apply measurement science to develop, document, and maintain calibration systems, procedures, and methods for inspection, measurement, and test equipment (IM&TE).
  • Evaluate new calibration methods and procedures.
  • Maintain and trend Quality control KPIs such as Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ), On Time Delivery (OTD), Service Level Agreement KPIs, etc.
  • Link metrics to strategic operational objectives.
  • Manage the interface with customer and/or customer 3rd parties as needed for witness inspections and to review/complete work.
  • Support Quality organization developing and understanding a proper use of adequate risk assessment, root cause analysis, non-conformance, corrective action, and COPQ collection.
  • Manage supplier source inspection, identifying needs of internal and external customer based upon project or prospect.
  • Use of Corporate Quality designated QMS software's MRP/ERP systems, as well as Microsoft office tools (MS Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Support and actively participate in the organization's drive towards excellence in Health and Safety performance.

NON-ESSENTIAL

  • Facilitate/support external audits for site certifications and internal and external audits.
  • Ensure requirements that are Critical to Quality (CTQ’s) and Critical to Process (CTP’s) are defined, understood and aligned with current capabilities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

REQUIRED

  • Extensive related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in Quality Control.
  • Continuous Improvement role with demonstrable evidence of systems and process improvement.
  • Must have extensive working knowledge of ISO 9001 QMS requirements.
  • Geometric dimensioning and tolerance training (GD&T).
  • Experience with Nondestructive Examination methods.
  • Quality Data Analysis techniques, Inspection and planning techniques.
  • Experience leading a team and delegating tasks.

DESIRED

  • Facilitation training.
  • Root Cause Analysis training.
  • Statistical Process Control (SPC) training.
  • Coordinate measuring machine (CMM) training / FARO arm training.
  • Experience of working in an environment such as oil & gas products, automotive, medical device is preferred.
