Oceaneering is a global provider of engineered services and products, primarily to the offshore energy industry. To support the Bids and Proposals Team and Sales Team with technical expertise in response to client ITTs (Invitation to Tender) and other client technical enquiries. The Proposal Engineer may also be requested to support the execution of project engineering work as necessary and should have the following attributes:

  • Individual contributor that is fully proficient in applying established industry and company standards.
  • Makes responsible and accountable decisions on complex technical challenges with minimal support from senior engineers.
  • Broad knowledge of own professional discipline and general knowledge of related disciplines.
  • Builds relationships within and across teams and delivers key technical content to stakeholders.

The list of job duties is not exclusive or exhaustive and the post holder will be required to undertake tasks that may reasonably be expected within the scope of the role.

ESSENTIAL
  • Create technical proposals for subsea umbilical projects that meet functionality, quality, delivery and budget requirements.
  • Review and understand the client requirements for all technical proposals undertaken.
  • Be responsible for producing technically correct documentation including reports, calculations and drawings in each proposal, FEED (Front End Engineering Design) study or other assigned engineering scope of work.
  • Collaborate with clients and suppliers as necessary to resolve interface issues and justify Oceaneering's technical solutions.
  • Collaborate with other functions to enable a successful (safe, on time, with high quality and on budget) completion of engineering proposal deliverables.
  • Identify where a proposal requires additional input from subject matter experts and collaborate with them.
  • Incorporate relevant feedback from supporting departments into bid designs.
  • Collaborate with these departments when a new or modified process/product is required as part of the technical proposal.
  • Use continuous improvement techniques to eliminate waste in proposals engineering processes.
  • Participate in HSE awareness initiatives including but not limited to STOP, observation cards, HSE safety suggestions.
  • Consistently demonstrate a high level of engagement and a positive can-do attitude.
  • Support other un-planned engineering activities, as necessary.
  • Be an active member of an Oceaneering core process team.

Qualifications

REQUIRED
  • An undergraduate college or university degree in an engineering discipline is required.
  • A strong candidate with a non-degree qualification may be considered for this position providing they can demonstrate relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Demonstrable experience as either a Project Engineer or Proposals Engineer in an engineering organisation.
DESIRED
  • A mechanical engineering qualification is preferred.
  • Previous experience working in a subsea engineering or renewables industry is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of electrical engineering principles would be advantageous.
