The primary role of the Workshop Planning Supervisor is to oversee the effective, smooth, and cost-efficient flow of all workshop planning activities through the interrogation of business forecast, accurate capacity planning and resource management.
- Provide planning support to the Workshop Operations Manager for all equipment maintenance and refurbishment activities.
- Ensure the maintenance of short and long‑term resource allocation plans based on input from all stakeholders.
- Report the effects of changes in work scope in the workshop schedule, technical or procurement risk and/or schedule conflict and report to the Workshop Operations Manager in a timely manner. Provide solutions to minimize critical path delays.
- Report slippage or anticipated completion date delays against baseline workshop schedule.
- Monitor work progress and expedite production labour to ensure agreed delivery dates are met.
- Attend Tender and Project kick‑off meetings to fully understand and meet workshop input criteria.
- Stop workshop operations that have not met minimum requirements of “clean to start” criteria.
- Accept or reject proposed work scopes based on project ability to meet minimum “clean to start” criteria.
- Liaise with materials planner to ensure equipment, parts and consumables are available enabling a “clean to start” methodology.
- Liaise with Service Excellence equipment manager on assets planned for operations to define required maintenance and rework activities.
- Liaise with Service Excellence SME to ensure asset repairs and modifications are accurately quoted in regards to resource allocation and workshop capacity.
- Ensure that the workshop schedule is subject to revision and that only the current revision is available for review.
- Create, implement and track planning activities and KPIs.
- Ensure the department acts as a key bridge between supply chain operations, engineering, manufacturing, marketing and project management.
In conjunction with Service Excellence, develop and maintain standard operations planning matrix.
- Create, maintain and present workshop key performance indicators such as utilisation, efficiency, observation close‑out rate and duration.
- Participate in workshop meetings such as toolbox talks, safety stand‑downs, etc.
- Undertake any other roles as required in order to support business needs.
Ensure the Safety policies and procedures are understood and adhered to as reasonably practicable to ensure a safe working environment.
Carry out work in accordance with the Company Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Systems. Perform the assigned tasks with due diligence regarding the Integrated Management Systems on the Company. Eliminate waste in any form, suggest the use of more environmentally friendly substances and practices and contribute to the continuous improvement of the environment.
Supervisory Responsibilities include Workshop Operations Planner, Junior Workshop Operations Planner, and Workshop Administrator.
Reports to Snr Manager – Assembly and Maintenance Facility.
Qualifications – Required
- Extensive knowledge of ROV systems and tooling maintenance regimes.
- Strong demonstrated critical thinking and logic skills with proven track record of success in a complex production and assembly LEAN environment.
- Proficient in using a relevant project planning software in a similar function.
- Demonstrable knowledge of project planning, resource planning, risk management, and managing stakeholder conflict.
- Excellent negotiating, communication (verbal and written) and organizational skills.
- Handling of multiple tasks and responsibilities in an effective and efficient manner.
- Finding solutions to facilitate continuous improvement.
Qualifications – Desired
- Knowledge of 6S and lean principles.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Knowledge of MS Office and PeopleSoft ERP System is a plus.
- Ability to work with cross‑cultural organizations and groups.
- Direct experience with a Supply and Demand realm including forecasts, receipt and deliver processes, inventory reports, accuracy validation procedures, cycle counts and audit procedures is required.
