The Oceaneering structural and naval integrity management team play a vital role in maintaining assets for a variety of clients. As part of this, the successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of our structural integrity management service, in line with all Oceaneering and client requirements and onshore/offshore legislation where applicable.

  • Have good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convert technical guidance and requirements to a simpler form for the benefit of others.
  • Have good client relationship skills at various levels of seniority.

Additional Experience

  • Have a minimum 3 years of experience in structural/civil engineering which may include structural inspection experience in the oil and gas industry.
  • Be familiar with OA/QC systems and NDT techniques.
  • Be experienced in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Have a working knowledge of Microsoft Project and AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

  • Provide client support in structural integrity management, inspection management and repair activities for structural components on fixed, floating and land assets as required.
  • Provide technical support in Structural Engineering, supported as necessary by senior engineers.
  • Prepare and maintain structural inspection and integrity management strategies.
  • Prepare and maintain Planned Maintenance Routines (PMR's) based upon the structural inspection strategies.
  • Support the production and maintenance of asset annual inspection plans and client planning process.
  • Develop and issue detailed workscopes for structural inspections.
  • Ensure all parties are fully conversant with all aspects of the scopes.
  • Ensure inspections are carried out and are coordinated with all other activities where necessary.
  • Review and endorse structural inspection reports, including 3rd party NDE Reports.
  • Confirm inspections have been completed in accordance with the workscope.
  • Carry out first pass assessment of reported defects, report any anomalies and highlight any areas of concern to the appropriate client focal point, advising when these present an immediate threat to integrity.
  • Undertake further investigation into structural issues, engaging approved 3rd parties as necessary.
  • Engage in continuous improvement of inspection scopes by closely liaising with offshore inspection teams, including 3rd party vendors.
  • Produce structural inspection Annual Summary Reports.
  • Support the Line Manager in appropriate aspects of contract management, providing assurance on technical delivery and cost management.
  • Ensure all work is compliant with relevant regulations, client standards and practices, reviewing any revisions and feedback from client focal point.
  • Promote the use of specialist technology to provide a more efficient service and to resolve unusual/special problems.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or closely related Engineering discipline (Essential).
  • MSc qualification in a related discipline (Preferred).
  • Chartered Engineer as defined by the Engineering Council or equivalent (Preferred).
  • Current BOSIET and OGUK medical, or alternatively passing these within a 3-month probationary period (Essential).
  • Specific vision abilities for this job are required and the candidate shall have this validated by undergoing an annual eye test (Essential).
