The Role: Most people moving from Linux admin into DevOps end up clicking around someone else's cloud console. This job puts you on the real thing: on-prem infrastructure running a regulated trading venue, with the team moving more of it onto Kubernetes and OpenShift. You'll join a small DevOps team reporting to the Senior DevOps Manager, hands-on from week one. You'll build infrastructure in Terraform, automate it with Ansible and Python, and look after the CI/CD pipelines the developers rely on. When architecture comes up, you're expected to have a view and say it. You don’t need to have done it all already. A solid Linux background and the urge to automate everything count for more than a CV full of Kubernetes. If you run a homelab or have built something interesting in your own time, that counts too.
What makes you a great fit:
- You’ve run Linux systems (RedHat/CentOS or similar) under real conditions, at work or on your own kit, and you're at home on the command line.
- You automate by instinct in Bash and Python, and you've had some exposure to Ansible or Terraform.
- You can reason through networking problems across TCP/IP, DNS, routing, load balancing and firewalls without needing to be a network engineer.
- You'll also have used Docker and Git with some CI/CD, ideally GitLab. Kubernetes or OpenShift experience is a genuine plus but not a must.
The broader technical team uses: Linux (RHEL), Terraform, Ansible, Python, Bash, GitLab, Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, ArgoCD, Helm, QuestDB, Elasticsearch, MySQL.
