We are seeking a skilled and analytical Property Treaty Underwriter to join our underwriting team to help grow the existing Global Property portfolio of the company. A unique opportunity to work in a rapidly evolving environment, in a fast growing team and company with significant growth ambitions. We are looking for an individual that will bring a level of expertise and contribute to the development of the portfolio of Property Excess of Loss Risk, Cat and Pro Rata business. The role involves evaluating risks, developing pricing strategies, maintaining broker and client relationships, and contributing to the company's profitability and growth.
What are we looking for?
- Develop and assist in the maintenance of the Property Treaty line of business (LoB).
- Negotiate, assess and underwrite renewal and new business in a timely and efficient manner in line with the business plan and personal authority limits.
- Use pricing tools unsupervised and price the business in accordance with pricing and underwriting strategy.
- Support the Head of LoB or Group CUO with broker interaction, modelling, strategic thinking, emerging risk analysis and business planning.
- Develop and maintain relationships with brokers and clients with a view to the retention of renewal business and production of new business.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and internal procedures and aggregate management.
- Compile underwriting reports and presentations as appropriate.
- Maintain good relationships with both external and internal parties as appropriate.
- Understand performance of all risks and accounts.
- Review and finalise contract wordings.
- Maintain and update own professional knowledge/qualifications/training as required.
Essential qualifications, skills and experience
- Lloyd’s or company market Property Treaty experience (broking or underwriting), of at least 5 years in a client/broker facing role.
- Technical knowledge of Property Treaty business.
- Use and experience in Property Treaty Pricing models.
- Strong analytical and financial modelling skills, with experience using Excel and catastrophe models (RMS, AIR, etc.).
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
- Organised, methodical, quick thinker.
- Willingness and desire to learn and develop.
- Demonstrate strong analytical skills and problem solving abilities.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Sociable, approachable and presentable with a good work ethic and willingness to take on responsibility.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and make sound underwriting decisions.
- Ability to work in multicultural environments and adapt to different business cultures.
