We are looking for an experienced Life Underwriter to join our dynamic team. This role offers a unique opportunity to work in a fast-paced reinsurance environment, focusing on group life and personal accident insurance across Europe and the Middle East. You will be responsible for underwriting risks, developing business opportunities, and managing key relationships with brokers and insurers.
What are we looking for?
- Business Development & Client Acquisition
- Identify new business opportunities in Europe and the Middle East.
- Build and maintain relationships with brokers and insurers.
- Present commercial proposals and attend industry meetings and events.
- Underwriting & Risk Assessment
- Assess and underwrite group life and personal accident risks.
- Define terms and conditions for reinsurance programs.
- Collaborate with the actuarial team to analyse profitability and pricing.
- Client & Broker Relationship Management
- Develop long-term relationships with clients and brokers.
- Provide expert advice and manage contract renewals.
- Market Analysis & Trends
- Conduct market research and monitor insurance trends.
- Stay updated on regulatory changes affecting life and accident insurance.
- Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure underwriting operations comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Work closely with the legal and compliance teams.
- Prepare periodic reports on underwriting activities and business performance.
- Professional Profile
- Education & Certifications: Bachelor’s degree in economics, Business Administration, Finance, Actuarial Science, or Insurance. Professional certifications in insurance or reinsurance are a plus.
- Experience
- 5-7 years of experience in the insurance or reinsurance industry.
- Strong background in group life and personal accident underwriting.
- Experience in commercial negotiations and risk assessment.
- Knowledge of reinsurance markets and key industry players in Europe & the Middle East.
Ideally, you should also have:
- Strong commercial acumen with a proactive approach to business development.
- Technical expertise in underwriting, actuarial analysis, and risk evaluation.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to work in multicultural environments and adapt to different business cultures.
- Fluency in English (mandatory); knowledge of Spanish or other languages is a plus.
