We are using and creating technology to transform operations at sea to enable people and the planet to thrive. We are open-minded and fearless in our approach to innovation and don't believe in boundaries. We challenge everything and have massive ambitions to drag aging industries into the tech era. We take safety, equality and education very seriously, and our responsibilities don't stop at our front door. Our business is built on the belief that there's definitely a more environmentally responsible way to operate at sea. We employ people who share our core values. We expect our people to be courageous, trustworthy, and conscientious, driven by a desire to do the right thing. We strive for excellence, work collaboratively, and are genuinely excited by our work. We offer opportunities for our people to develop beyond their role and span a multitude of disciplines. These are open to all, regardless of background and experience level. Working with us means being part of a team that is harnessing technology and creativity to disrupt a traditional industry. We are not your average workplace.

We are seeking a Production Engineer to lead the transition of products from early R&D and prototyping into stable, repeatable, cost‑effective production. This role will combine:

  • Process industrialisation (turning designs into production‑ready workflows, tooling, and controls)
  • Cross‑functional integration (working closely with design, operations, supply chain, and quality teams)
  • Production scalability (ensuring smooth progression from prototype to volume manufacture)

You will ensure that early builds do not become “works once” artefacts, but instead evolve into robust, repeatable processes that protect quality, cost, and delivery performance as the business scales. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of engineering design, hands‑on production, and operational delivery — someone who can communicate clearly, challenge constructively, and take ownership of manufacturing outcomes across the full product lifecycle.

What you will be doing:

  • Convert product designs into stable, repeatable production processes. Define workflows, tolerances, and controls that ensure consistent build quality from the first unit to full‑rate production.
  • Develop tooling, fixtures, and work instructions. Translate engineering intent into practical, efficient, operator‑ready manufacturing methods.
  • Identify and resolve manufacturability issues early. Work closely with design teams to prevent late‑stage surprises and avoid costly rework or redesign.
  • Maintain production readiness through clear documentation and standards. Own build instructions, process sheets, and production‑critical specifications.
  • Support scaling from prototype to volume manufacture. Plan capacity, tooling, and workflow changes that enable predictable growth without disruption.
  • Balance production flow and operational constraints. Optimise layouts, takt times, and resource allocation to maintain smooth throughput.
  • Act as the manufacturing authority during design reviews and programme delivery. Provide clear guidance on feasibility, risks, and required design changes to ensure manufacturable outcomes.

Who you are:

  • Experienced in manufacturing engineering, production engineering, or a closely related discipline with clear ownership of process definition and industrialisation.
  • Technically strong, able to interpret and challenge engineering drawings, tolerances, and system‑level design decisions.
  • Comfortable in prototype‑to‑production environments, where requirements evolve and hands‑on problem‑solving is essential.
  • A clear communicator, able to align design, operations, and programme teams around practical manufacturing realities.
  • Structured and methodical, with a focus on process stability, quality, and continuous improvement.

Desirable:

  • Experience in complex electromechanical, robotics, maritime, or autonomous systems manufacturing.
  • Background supporting design‑for‑manufacture, production readiness reviews, or industrialisation programmes.
  • Demonstrated ability to scale production across multiple product variants, sites, or customer programmes.
  • Familiarity with regulated or safety‑critical manufacturing environments.

Salary: The salary varies for this position as we are recruiting in multiple regional locations and job grades. The salary process is based on skills, abilities, and experience required.

What you can expect: At Ocean Infinity, we believe in creating equal opportunities for all, celebrating each and everyone’s differences. We are driven by transforming the industry, through our technology, thoughts, behaviours and actions. Being inclusive and respectful to all is fundamental to who we are. It is the right thing to do and enables innovation and creativity to thrive. There is more work to be done, and we know that we aren’t perfect, but our commitment to these values is unwavering. They are central to our mission and the impact we have on the industry, meaning, we cannot live without them.
