Ocean Infinity is pioneering the future of marine operations with advanced technology and remote capabilities. As we expand our state-of-the-art Remote Operations Centre in Southampton, we’re looking for onshore Online Surveyors. This is a full-time onshore position in Southampton, UK, and successful applicants must be located within a commutable distance.
What you will do:
- Monitor vessel systems and sensor performance in real time, ensuring continuous operational readiness
- Perform QA/QC on acquired survey data, identifying anomalies and implementing corrective actions
- Adjust sensor parameters and equipment settings to maintain data quality and efficiency
- Maintain accurate, structured logs of all operational activity and system events
- Prepare and update Daily Progress Reports (DPRs), capturing key activities, incidents, and outcomes
- Ensure consistent use of standard reporting formats and documentation practices
- Support line planning updates, including SVP acquisition, processing, and upload
- Conduct effective shift handovers, ensuring continuity of information across teams
- Monitor data streams for anomalies and escalate issues to the Senior Surveyor where required
- Support positioning and navigation monitoring to ensure accurate vessel tracking
- Troubleshoot first-line technical issues, escalating more complex problems as needed
- Maintain situational awareness of vessel traffic and external hazards (e.g. fishing gear)
- Collaborate with Senior Surveyors and contractors to support efficient shift operations
- Participate in pre-shift briefings and daily operational syncs
- Liaise with processing and technical teams to ensure aligned project delivery
- Contribute to continuous improvement of survey processes and operational performance
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience in hydrographic or offshore survey operations (or similar technical environment)
- Strong understanding of survey systems, sensors, and data acquisition workflows
- Practical experience with QA/QC processes and data integrity checks
- High attention to detail and structured approach to reporting and documentation
- Ability to operate effectively in a shift-based, high-tempo environment
- Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to issue resolution
- Clear communicator with the ability to support effective team handovers
- Collaborative mindset with a focus on team performance and delivery
- Candidates eligible to live and work within the UK
Desirable:
- Previous experience as an Online Surveyor with strong technical and communication skills
- Recently qualified Geomatics, Surveyors and Geo-information graduates welcome to apply
Salary: Up to £70,000 per annum
Night Shift / Overtime Uplift: Additional uplift applies for night shifts up to 10%
Relocation: We are seeking candidates who are based in Southampton or the surrounding area, or who are willing to relocate from elsewhere in the UK. Limited short-term rotational support may be provided during the transition period; however, this will be restricted to accommodation only. We offer up to £5,000 in relocation expenses, which are reimbursable after your start date.
Shift Patterns: 2 weeks ON / 2 weeks OFF rotation within the ROC. Rotating 8-hour shifts (day, night, weekends), with 16-hours off shift to support 24/7 survey operations.
