Ocean Infinity is seeking an experienced and highly skilled AUV Survey Advisor to join our growing team. This role is essential to ensuring excellence in AUV survey mission planning, design, execution, and delivery. You will serve as a subject-matter expert supporting AUV offshore operations, project and technical teams, and tender evaluations with a specific focus on AUV-based survey campaigns.

What You Will Do

  • Conduct thorough technical evaluations for tender submissions related to AUV projects;
  • Provide expert input into technical proposal content to ensure alignment with operational capabilities;
  • Lead and support the planning and design of AUV survey missions, including route and mission optimization;
  • Optimize payload sensor settings to meet all client specifications;
  • Develop detailed operational plans utilizing software tools such as 4DNav and Qinsy;
  • Oversee the development and optimization of Underwater Transponder Positioning (UTP) layouts for precise subsea positioning;
  • Ensure accurate positioning and navigation strategies tailored to project-specific requirements;
  • Actively liaise with clients, participating in technical meetings and providing expert survey advice;
  • Address technical inquiries, clarifications, and represent the company’s technical capabilities professionally;
  • Collaborate closely with offshore teams and vessels to resolve operational issues and ensure survey accuracy and efficiency;
  • Continuously communicate with Senior Surveyors offshore to monitor project progress;
  • Evaluate and recommend new hardware and software developments in survey and positioning technologies;
  • Facilitate implementation and integration of approved technological advancements;
  • Provide training and mentorship for offshore and onshore teams, emphasizing AUV operations and navigation;
  • Identify gaps in team knowledge and arrange targeted training with suppliers as needed.

Who You Are

  • Demonstrated expertise in AUV/Subsurface survey methodologies and operations;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Kongsberg’s Hugin AUV payload sensors packages preferred;
  • Proven experience with AUV Mission Planning Software, USBL positioning systems, and UTP Layout planning;
  • Solid track record in offshore survey operations, ideally with a strong focus on autonomous underwater vehicles (AUV);
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence in engaging directly with clients on technical matters;
  • Strong abilities in survey mission planning, operational coordination, and detailed technical reviews;
  • Extensive experience with industry-standard survey and navigation software (e.g., 4DNav);
  • A relevant degree in Surveying, Geoscience, Geomatics, Marine Technology, or related disciplines;
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in marine surveying, with at least 2-3 years specifically dedicated to AUV survey projects.

Salary for this position: Up to £70,000 per annum. The salary varies for this position as we are recruiting in multiple regional locations and job grades. The salary process is based on skills, abilities, and experience required.
