We are using and creating technology to transform operations at sea to enable people and the planet to thrive. We are open-minded and fearless in our approach to innovation and don’t believe in boundaries. We challenge everything and have massive ambitions to drag aging industries into the tech era. We take safety, equality and education very seriously, and our responsibilities don’t stop at our front door. Our business is built on the belief that there’s definitely a more environmentally responsible way to operate at sea.

We employ people who share our core values. We expect our people to be courageous, trustworthy, and conscientious, driven by a desire to do the right thing. We strive for excellence, work collaboratively, and are genuinely excited by our work. We offer opportunities for our people to develop beyond their role and span a multitude of disciplines. These are open to all, regardless of background and experience level. Working with us means being part of a team that is harnessing technology and creativity to disrupt a traditional industry.

We’re looking for a Solutions Architect who can blend deep systems engineering expertise with a strong understanding of how people actually use technology—someone who can shape customer‐focused solutions, design robust architectures, and stay hands‐on through integration, testing, and real‐world deployment.

What you will be doing
  • Work closely with customers to translate mission needs into system configurations, workflows, and CONOPS.
  • Shape solution architectures, demo plans, and feasibility assessments.
  • Support bids/proposals, ROM estimates, and deal shaping with commercial teams.
  • Act as the technical interface between the client and engineering—clarifying needs, managing scope, and aligning delivery.
  • Develop operational playbooks and deployment concepts for real‐world conditions (weather, logistics, comms, safety).
  • Own system architecture, interface definitions, and ICDs across USV/AUV platforms.
  • Lead trade studies, design decisions, and configuration control.
  • Drive integration & bring‐up (hardware/software), including bench testing and hardware‐in‐the‐loop (HIL).
  • Plan and execute V&V activities (test plans, procedures, acceptance criteria); support sea trials and data‐driven iteration.
  • Produce engineering artefacts (requirements, SDDs, ICDs, test reports) using a lean, pragmatic approach.
Who you are
  • Proven experience in systems engineering across the full lifecycle (architecture, requirements, design, integration, V&V, deployment) and/or equivalent professional experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Strong familiarity with MBSE / Enterprise Architecture approaches and tools (e.g., SysML, UML‐like modelling), considered essential. Producing guiding artefacts and maintaining solution‐wide architectural views is core to the role.
  • Customer‐facing technical experience (solution scoping, demos, CONOPS, proposals).
  • Strong understanding of systems architecture, interface management, and configuration control.
  • Hands‐on experience with hardware integration and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with autonomous systems, complex electromechanical systems, or ocean‐domain technologies.
Desirables
  • Knowledge of navigation, control systems, and sensor fusion.
  • Experience with communication and network systems (e.g., acoustic, satellite).
  • Experience with USVs, AUVs, or other autonomous platforms.
  • Proficiency with requirements or configuration management tools (e.g., DOORS, EA, Jira).
