Ocean Infinity is seeking a Senior Product Owner, Remote Robotics Systems to drive the product vision, roadmap, and requirements for integrated remote robotics capabilities across software, hardware, autonomy, and operational workflows. This role owns products that operate in complex, safety critical, real world environments and requires strong systems thinking to balance software capabilities, hardware constraints, autonomy behaviours, human operators, and operational risk. You will partner closely with engineering teams and operational stakeholders to translate field needs into deliverable system requirements, maintain traceability from intent through to validation, and ensure solutions are usable, operable, and safe in live remote operations.
What will you do:
- Define and communicate system level product vision and strategy across hardware, software, autonomy, and operational use throughout the product lifecycle.
- Engage stakeholders to capture and prioritise user needs, system requirements, and acceptance criteria, ensuring clear traceability from operational outcomes to delivered capability.
- Own backlog structure and prioritisation, ensuring roadmaps are clearly defined, realistic, and aligned to product goals and delivery constraints.
- Collaborate closely with software, hardware, autonomy, and systems engineering teams to ensure solutions are technically feasible, testable, and operable in real world environments.
- Provide effective governance and reporting on scope, milestones, dependencies, risks, and issues, ensuring stakeholders understand trade offs and decisions.
- Work with QA and validation teams to ensure product quality, reliability, and safety expectations are met.
- Communicate progress against roadmap, including insights from delivery, testing, and field feedback that inform ongoing prioritisation.
- Oversee the creation of operational and technical documentation, including system behaviour, limitations, and safe operating procedures.
- Contribute to planning and roadmap activities across Solution portfolios to ensure dependencies and priorities are aligned and actively managed.
Who you are:
You are comfortable operating in ambiguity and turning complex real world operational needs into structured, testable product requirements. You can work across disciplines, communicate clearly to engineers and non-technical stakeholders, and make decisions that balance safety, operability, delivery timelines, and technical constraints. You take ownership and drive clarity without losing sight of real operational outcomes.
Qualifications and skills:
Essential:
- 5+ years experience in product ownership or product management roles within complex, multi-disciplinary technology environments.
- Experience with integrated hardware software products such as robotics, autonomous systems, industrial equipment, or other cyber physical systems.
- Demonstrated ability to analyse and prioritise work based on user needs using observation, testing, data, and feedback.
- Strong decision making ability, balancing technical constraints, operational risk, safety, cost, and delivery timelines.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to distil complex requirements into clear user stories, system requirements, and acceptance criteria.
- Ability to communicate complex technical and system concepts clearly to engineers, operators, and non-technical stakeholders.
- Excellent time management and prioritisation skills in fast paced environments.
- C2 or native English proficiency.
Desirable:
- Experience leading delivery in Agile software development environments.
- Experience with robotics, autonomy, control systems, or sensor based systems.
- Familiarity with systems engineering concepts including interfaces, dependencies, and trade studies.
- Experience supporting products through field trials, commissioning, or live operations.
- Experience with geotechnical and or payload control system projects.
What success looks like in this role:
- Clear system level product direction aligned to operational outcomes.
- Engineering teams unblocked through well defined, prioritised, and testable requirements.
- Products that are reliable, safe, and usable in real world remote operations.
- Stakeholders confident in roadmap, risks, and delivery trade offs.
Salary: Up to £80,000
