The Programme Scheduler will play a critical role in developing, maintaining, analysing, and reporting integrated programme schedules across multiple workstreams, suppliers, and stakeholders to support the delivery of defence Programme outcomes. This role requires an individual with extensive scheduling expertise, strong analytical capability, and the ability to work within a highly regulated and fast-paced programme environment. The candidate must be comfortable managing large volumes of data, producing insightful reports, and supporting programme controls, governance, and delivery teams with accurate schedule information.
What you will be doing- Develop, maintain, and manage integrated master schedules using Microsoft Project.
- Create detailed programme schedules covering engineering, procurement, manufacturing, testing, integration, and delivery activities.
- Ensure schedules are logically linked, resource loaded where required, and aligned to programme milestones and governance requirements.
- Monitor schedule performance, progress updates, critical paths, float analysis, dependencies, and risks.
- Produce regular schedule status reports, dashboards, and performance metrics for programme leadership and stakeholders.
- Support programme reviews, planning workshops, and governance meetings with accurate schedule data and analysis.
- Analyse large and complex datasets to identify trends, variances, schedule risks, and opportunities.
- Generate ad-hoc reports and management information to support programme decision-making.
- Collaborate with project managers, work package managers, engineering teams, commercial teams, and suppliers to maintain schedule accuracy.
- Support change control processes and assess schedule impacts arising from programme changes.
- Ensure scheduling standards, processes, and best practices are consistently applied across the programme.
- Contribute to programme controls activities including risk, cost, and resource integration where applicable.
- Extensive experience as a Programme Scheduler or Project Planner within large, complex programmes.
- Previous experience working within defence, aerospace, engineering, or other highly regulated environments.
- Advanced expertise in Microsoft Project, including:
- Integrated master scheduling
- Critical path analysis
- Baseline management
- Dependency management
- Progress tracking and reporting
- Strong experience handling complex programme data and producing management reports and dashboards.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to work across multiple disciplines and coordinate information from diverse teams.
- Strong attention to detail with a structured and methodical approach.
- Experience supporting programme governance and reporting cycles.
- Experience working on government or defence programmes with security and compliance requirements.
- Familiarity with Earned Value Management (EVM).
- Knowledge of programme controls and integrated planning methodologies.
- Understanding of engineering and systems integration lifecycles.
- Experience working with suppliers and subcontractors within complex delivery environments.
- Professional certification in project controls, planning, or project management.
