This role supports IT infrastructure and activities related to our control centres, data centres, and vessels and reports to the Infrastructure Team Lead. The Technician is critical for minimizing downtime, ensuring data integrity, supporting business operations, and enabling the effective implementation of new technologies.

What will you do:
  • Support the installation, configuration, and maintenance of server, network, storage, and virtualization platforms;
  • Perform data operations, including backups and physical data ingestion procedures;
  • Continuously monitor the health and performance of the infrastructure, addressing issues such as downtime or degraded performance and triaging problems across the wider team;
  • Manage patching of all server infrastructure, including hypervisors, storage and virtual machines;
  • Support network cabling, patching, labelling, and documentation in office, data centre, and vessel environments;
  • Serve as an escalation point for infrastructure related issues or inquiries;
  • Monitor the ticketing queue to investigate and assign tickets accordingly;
  • Maintain asset inventories, rack layouts, and system documentation;
  • Develop and maintain trusted, positive relationships with employees, clients, and vendors;
  • Act as the primary point of contact for incoming shipments, working closely with the logistics team to ensure smooth delivery and handling;
  • Pack shipments and include necessary documentation;
  • Identify, communicate, and mitigate risks and issues;
  • Complete daily and weekly checks on infrastructure across different regions using current monitoring tools and processes;
  • Collaborate with Infrastructure Engineers, Architects, and other Tech Team members to support project deployments and upgrades;
  • Occasional travel to datacentres, vessels, and control centres to support field operations;
  • Stay up to date with new products, tools, and techniques, encouraging their use within the business to promote continuous improvement of capability.
Who you are:
  • 1–3 years of experience in an IT infrastructure or field service technician role;
  • Knowledge of servers, storage, network, and security systems and technologies;
  • Hands-on experience with technical implementation and configuration of infrastructure and systems;
  • Ability to work remotely as part of a small team servicing global organizational needs;
  • Comfortable working independently or under supervision in remote or isolated environments;
  • Experience working with tools like Windows Server, Active Directory, and basic virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V);
  • Proficient in troubleshooting network & server infrastructure;
  • Working knowledge of network protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.;
  • Strong interpersonal and people management skills;
  • Thoughtful, thorough and conscientious;
  • Ability to take ownership and engagement in the work;
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment;
  • Driven, proactive and able to work autonomously with little supervision towards the company’s purpose;
  • Ability to work well in a team and independently;
  • Enthusiastic about protecting people and the planet.
Desirable:
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science or related field;
  • Industry relevant certifications.
Salary for this position: Up to £42,000 per annum.
