We’re now looking for a Communal Meter Coordinator to play a key role in managing and modernising communal utility metering across our housing stock. This is an exciting opportunity to support smarter, greener energy usage while ensuring accurate billing and improved customer experience.

As our Communal Meter Coordinator, you will:

  • Create and maintain an accurate inventory of all communal utility meters across Ocean’s homes
  • Coordinate the rollout of smart meters—working with utility providers, contractors, and colleagues
  • Support safe working by identifying risks such as asbestos backboards and arranging appropriate removal
  • Keep meter data accurate and up to date within our housing management system
  • Record essential meter readings to ensure correct billing for our customers
  • Carry out customer consultations to keep residents informed
  • Help align Ocean’s meter records with the National Grid to avoid unnecessary energy costs

This work directly contributes to efficiency, sustainability and the wellbeing of residents across Cornwall.

You’ll be great in this role if you have:

  • Essential GCSEs (Grade 4–9 / A–C) in English and Maths, or equivalent
  • Understanding of smart energy meters – or the ability to learn quickly
  • Experience dealing with utility providers
  • Awareness of asbestos and other hazardous materials
  • Good understanding of safe working practices and health & safety
  • Clear communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to use IT systems accurately
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
  • Your own vehicle and ability to travel to different sites
