The unique waters of Plymouth Sound have been instrumental in shaping our city and nation’s heritage, culture, wealth and security. The National Marine Park will encourage greater prosperity and engagement with our marine environment. One of the OCT’s roles within this project is to engage school children in Plymouth with the park, connecting them with Plymouth’s rich natural and historic heritage through innovative activity, digital platforms, and teacher training. As the PSNMP Schools Project Lead, your role will be to coordinate the “Sea in your Schools” programme, which will engage the local school children of Plymouth with the country’s first National Marine Park.
Duties
- Planning the delivery of a wide-ranging educational programme, including classroom-based workshops, virtual sessions and outreach events.
- Supporting the administration and evaluation of the formal learning programme of the PSNMP Schools project.
- Planning and providing relevant CPD opportunities for educators.
- Developing resource material to support the learning of key topics relating to Ocean Literacy and PSNMP interpretation themes.
- Contributing to the connection of school children to the National Marine Park through fun and engaging experiences.
As a people focused conservation charity, we are looking for a confident, motivated individual capable of demonstrating innovative approaches to engagement, capturing the imagination of a wide range of audiences and inspiring pro‑ocean marine citizenship behaviour in students across the city.
Essential
- Experience working/volunteering in environmental sector.
- Experience running activities with young people.

- Strong administration and organisational skills.
- Interest & enthusiasm for marine wildlife.
- Valid driving licence.

- Degree in environmental science or equivalent.

This is a fixed term contract until January 2029 working Monday to Friday, 9am -5pm. Salary: £25,000 – £28,500 depending on experience. Closing Date: 2nd April 2024.
