Our South Shropshire Team offers a unique opportunity to work in one of the county's most rural communities, where no two days are ever the same. As a Group Work Facilitator, you'll enjoy the autonomy to work across towns and villages, building meaningful relationships with the people you support and becoming a valued part of the local community. This role will cover Ludlow, Bridgnorth and sites across the South of Shropshire.
Rural working allows for truly person-centred care, strong partnerships with local agencies and the chance to make a lasting difference where services can be harder to access. If you enjoy variety, independence, collaborative working and seeing the real impact of your work, our South Shropshire Team could be the perfect place for you to grow your career and change lives.
As a Group Work Facilitator you’ll:
- Provide a range of drug and alcohol-specific courses and psychosocial group-based activities in both 1:1 and group settings, using confidence-building and motivational techniques.
- Deliver accredited training where required.
- Work in partnership with people to evaluate their progress, identify their needs and develop realistic action plans, including ongoing reviews.
- Use creative, innovative and evidence-based motivational interventions to support sustainable recovery and community reintegration.
- Help people understand barriers to engagement and recognise the potential consequences of their behaviours.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and external partner agencies to provide effective group work interventions.
- Involve the people we support in the design, development, delivery and evaluation of group work programmes.
- Support colleagues, volunteers and Community Recovery Champions by providing advice and guidance where appropriate.
- Work as part of the wider team to achieve targets, capture evidence and provide information for internal and external performance monitoring.
A driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential for this role, as you’ll be working across the South Shropshire area.
This role is full time and permanent, with a salary of £26,250 per annum. There will be some Saturday working on a rota basis to meet the needs of the service.
We’re looking for a compassionate and motivated individual, with an exceptional ability to build meaningful relationships. You will have demonstrable experience working within health, social care, criminal justice or another specialist setting, as well as experience of creating and delivering group work.
You will be highly organised, have excellent communication skills and be able to manage your time effectively. You’ll work collaboratively as part of a team and be confident working with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
You’ll have:
- OCN/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, or be willing to achieve this within 12 months
- Experience of creating and delivering group work materials to groups of people
- The ability to build and maintain effective relationships with clients and colleagues
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Resilience and the ability to prioritise your work
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Good IT skills
- Knowledge and understanding of issues affecting people who use drugs and alcohol
- Knowledge of assessment, care planning and key working
A teaching qualification (or similar) would be desirable, as would knowledge of learning styles and experience of working with substance misuse clients.
Above all, we’re looking for someone who is passionate about what we do and has a positive and engaging approach to the people we support and our key stakeholders.
If you’re passionate about helping people make positive changes and have the skills and experience to deliver engaging group work, we’d love to hear from you.
