This role is based in Wolverhampton and will support the development and implementation of LGPS Central's Total Portfolio Management capability, in line with the government's Fit for the Future agenda. The postholder will help support the oversight and implementation of Partner Fund portfolios, including portfolio analysis, cashflow modelling and investment decision support across public and private markets. This will include working with multiple data sources, building practical tools and models, and helping translate portfolio information into clear, useful insight. The successful candidate will work closely with Client Portfolio Managers, Partner Fund Client Directors, and colleagues across LGPS Central's Investment and Operations teams. What you'll be doing:

  • Total Portfolio Management Development
    • Support the development of LGPS Central's Total Portfolio Management capability.
    • Assist in building a Total Portfolio View across Partner Funds, incorporating public and private market assets.
    • Support the development of cashflow forecasting models, including capital calls, distributions and operational cashflows.
    • Build and develop Excel-based tools and models to support portfolio and cash management decisions.
    • Support the creation of processes, procedures, frameworks and presentations across portfolio and cash management.
    • Assist in defining data requirements and sourcing information from custodians, internal systems and Partner Funds.
    • Contribute to onboarding activities for Partner Funds, including data collation and validation.
  • Portfolio Analysis and Implementation
    • Support the monitoring of Partner Fund portfolios against Strategic Asset Allocation.
    • Help identify the drivers of allocation drift and support analysis of potential actions.
    • Assist with rebalancing analysis, considering portfolio positioning, liquidity and implementation constraints.
    • Support portfolio changes, including transitions and reallocations.
    • Translate portfolio data and analysis into clear, practical insights to support decision‐making.
  • Cashflow, Liquidity and Data
    • Support cash management activity, including forecasting, liquidity monitoring and funding decisions.
    • Assist with capital call and distribution planning, ensuring this is aligned with liquidity requirements.
    • Work with multiple data sources to aggregate, validate and interpret portfolio information.
    • Apply judgement where data is incomplete or imperfect, clearly documenting assumptions and limitations.
    • Identify opportunities to improve processes, tools and ways of working.
  • Reporting and Stakeholder Support
    • Contribute to client reporting and analysis.
    • Prepare outputs that are clear, accurate and useful for Partner Funds and internal stakeholders.
    • Work closely with Client Portfolio Managers, Partner Fund Client Directors, Investment Teams and Operations colleagues.
    • Build strong working relationships across LGPS Central and contribute positively to team discussions.

Requirements:

  • Understanding of multi‐asset investing across public and private markets.
  • Awareness of how institutional portfolios are constructed, monitored and managed.
  • Strong Excel and modelling capability, with the ability to build tools that support investment decision‐making.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work with multiple and imperfect data sources, applying judgement and documenting assumptions clearly.
  • Ability to translate data into portfolio‐level insight.
  • Understanding of how cashflows, liquidity and capital activity impact portfolio construction and implementation.
  • Awareness of rebalancing, funding decisions and portfolio trade‐offs.
  • Familiarity with investment systems and data providers such as Bloomberg, CRD, Aladdin or similar would be helpful.
  • Confidence to explain complex investment matters clearly and support effective decision‐making.
  • Personable, articulate and credible, with the ability to build strong relationships.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders across Investment, Operations and Client teams.
  • A positive, practical and curious approach to problem‐solving.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • CFA or equivalent qualification preferred.
  • IMC preferred.
