Role
- Lead and develop a high‑performing Engineering Department.
- Provide strategic leadership for Electrical and Software Engineering teams.
- Plan resources to meet project needs and ensure optimal utilisation.
- Drive departmental performance focusing on quality, efficiency, and process excellence.
- Embed best practices, functional safety, compliance, and industry standards across all engineering outputs.
- Champion continuous improvement, mentor team leaders, and support their technical and professional growth.
- Monitor and manage non‑conformances, COPQ, and engineering governance.
- Deliver exceptional engineering outcomes by working closely with Project Responsible Engineers and aligning resources, plans, and milestones.
- Ensure timely delivery of all electrical and software engineering elements within multi‑disciplinary projects.
- Collaborate with Mechanical Engineering and Project Management for seamless end‑to‑end project delivery.
- Provide expert technical guidance, resolving complex engineering challenges.
- Support commissioning activities including FAT, SAT, and customer handover.
- Track risks, constraints, changes, and progress, communicating clearly to stakeholders and senior leadership.
About You
- Proven leadership experience managing both Electrical and Software engineering teams in automation or complex engineered systems.
- Strong technical background in electrical design, PLC programming, HMI development, and motion control.
- Deep understanding of functional safety, engineering governance, and standards such as IEC 61131‑3, ISO 13849, IEC 62061, and CE compliance.
- Experience driving process improvement, performance management, and team development.
- Demonstrated success in resource planning, utilisation management, and cross‑functional collaboration.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to make fast, informed decisions in a project‑driven environment.
Technical Skills & Qualifications
- Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Expertise in PLCs, HMIs, motion control, and safety system design.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Studio 5000, or Beckhoff.
- Familiarity with version control and configuration management tools.
- Experience using project management and reporting tools such as Microsoft Project or Jira.
