About the Role

We are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Payroll Administrator to join our team. The role is primarily responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll, with additional support to the HR function across a range of administrative activities. This is a great opportunity for someone with strong payroll experience who enjoys variety and working closely with HR colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Payroll
    • Process monthly/weekly payroll accurately and on time
    • Ensure compliance with HMRC and statutory requirements, including PAYE, National Insurance, pensions and statutory payments
    • Process starters, leavers, salary changes and deductions
    • Respond to payroll-related queries from employees in a timely and professional manner
    • Preparation of month end journal to include in the accounting ledgers
    • Maintain payroll records and ensure data integrity
  • HR Administration
    • Maintain and update employee records on HR and payroll systems
    • Support the onboarding process, including issuing contracts and collecting right to work documentation
    • Carry out employment reference checks in line with company procedures
    • Book and coordinate training courses, maintaining accurate training records

Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience in a payroll administration role
  • Good working knowledge of UK payroll legislation
  • Experience of HR administration tasks is desirable
  • Strong attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
  • Comfortable handling confidential and sensitive information
  • Good organisational and time management skills
  • Competent user of payroll and HR systems and Microsoft Office
