A vacancy has arisen for a Plant Operator to join the Yorkshire Water contract. The role involves supporting the delivery of sludge handling and movements within wastewater treatment sites across Yorkshire. The candidate will manage plant control, adjust running parameters, fault check, and proactively comply with Yorkshire Water policies and procedures. Flexibility is key due to potential travel between sites and variable operating hours. Adopting safe working techniques and maintaining good overall operation practices are essential.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate loadall telehandler to load lorries with treated waste.
  • Stock out waste into windrows and maintain windrows or in to barn storage.
  • Maintain good housekeeping standards of work areas and plant.
  • Carry out daily vehicle checks on mobile plant.
  • Wash down mobile plant.
  • Maintain stocking pads and keep drains and gutters clear.
  • Carry out additional tasks that the operator is trained and competent to do.
  • Adjust running parameters and fault check as required.
  • Travel between sites as operational needs dictate.

Qualifications:

  • Good understanding of site safety standards.
  • NPORS licence for a loadall telehandler.
  • Knowledge and experience in a similar role.
  • Good personal presentation and hygiene.
  • Flexibility in working hours and willingness to work overtime.
  • Strong team player.
  • Ability to work independently and on own initiative.
  • Good time keeping.
  • Good communication skills at all levels.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
