An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Client Tech Analyst to join award-winning manufacturer Liniar Ltd, based in Denby, Derbyshire – a subsidiary of the US-based Quanex group. Liniar is an industry leading PVCu extrusion company, designing and supplying a large portfolio of PVCu and aluminium profiles and products to a nationwide customer base of specialist window and door manufacturers, housebuilders, decking installers, landscapers and trade outlets.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a support lead responsible for the administration of office and manufacturing computer equipment, support the client user base, provide on-call support and allocate hardware, software and supplies.
  • Enforce and implement IT policies and procedures, and SOX GCC controls. Manage projects in the administration of local desktop software, hardware, and support the organization's local area network; assist with wide area network responsibilities.
  • Work independently with production management to design, plan, implement, and maintain critical manufacturing technologies.
  • Configure, install, monitor, and maintain office and manufacturing hardware, software and network peripherals; support mobile workforce including Windows, MS Office, ERP and manufacturing/engineering software.
  • Conduct research to understand, explain and resolve technology issues; communicate updates to users and follow up after problems are resolved; absorb and escalate grievances as needed.
  • Provide consultation to IT users for end-user computing and desktop-based LAN systems and software; provide Tier 2 support and coordinate with Network Administrators, Analysts, and vendors for Tier 3 issues.
  • Evolve desktop application packages, participate in testing of new desktop packages, and implement prototypes.
  • Document solutions and develop end-user guidelines; provide technical training to users as needed.
  • Maintain critical manufacturing IT equipment including label printers, wireless scanners, and process equipment; perform user equipment upgrades and ensure configurations are correct.
  • Recommend hardware and software selections to address business requirements; maintain relationships with IT vendors; coordinate referrals to service personnel as needed.
  • Manage inventory of equipment and spare parts; initiate IT purchases within approved budgets; set up equipment per corporate direction.
  • Coordinate with IT Leadership on annual budgets and tracking/execution of budgets; manage Service Now queues and provide improvement recommendations.
  • Support all regional sites as part of the IT team and lead IT projects; travel to operational sites as needed.
  • Occasional weekend work and travel based on business needs.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field preferred; IT support experience with desktop software and hardware; degree may be waived for appropriate experience.
  • Manufacturing technology experience recommended.
  • Excellent verbal, written, planning, analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong self-motivation, ability to work with minimal supervision, and ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with deadlines and to establish priorities; thorough knowledge of computer networking systems and current technological developments.
  • Knowledge of installing, configuring, and maintaining PCs, networks, and related hardware/software; knowledge of local copyright laws pertaining to software use.
