We are seeking a highly skilled MEP professional to act as a key technical anchor for our projects across the North‑West and Yorkshire regions. This role focuses on the front‑end of building services: site intelligence, client strategy, and technical delivery. You will be the primary technical face of our MEP discipline in the North, working as a strategic partner to our Birmingham and London Design Hubs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead comprehensive site appraisals and technical feasibility surveys, translating as‑built realities into clear, high‑level briefs for the design team.
  • Act as the MEP design lead in Northern‑based project meetings, providing expert technical advice to clients, architects, and contractors.
  • Bridge the gap between site‑based challenges and design‑office solutions, acting as the technical translator for the Birmingham team.
  • Conduct high‑level technical reviews and periodic site inspections during construction, ensuring onsite installation aligns with the design intent and Baily Garner's quality benchmarks.
  • Manage the flow of information from initial site visit through to final commissioning and handover.

Essential Skills

  • Robust background in Building Services Design (Mechanical or Electrical) with at least 8 years of experience.
  • Deep understanding of multi‑disciplinary coordination and ability to produce clear, professional site reports, sketches, and briefing documents.
  • Mobile, field‑based role requiring proactive regional travel; full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
  • Ability to represent Baily Garner independently, visualising design solutions for site‑based constraints.

Desirable Attributes

  • Chartered status (CIBSE/IET/IMechE) or working towards it.
  • Local market knowledge of the Northern construction landscape and contractor networks.
  • Understanding of how MEP interacts with Architecture and Building Surveying.

Benefits

  • Flexible working hours (7.25 hour day, core 10 am‑4:15 pm), 36.25 hours per week.
  • Hybrid working – choice of office and home.
  • Medicash health plan with money back on dental, optical, and physiotherapy appointments.
  • Life assurance cover (four times annual salary) for all colleagues.
  • In‑house mental health first aiders.

  • Professional development scheme; sponsorship of professional fees.
  • 2 paid corporate social responsibility days.
