Role Overview

The Business Development Manager (BDM) will be responsible for identifying, developing, and managing new and existing installer accounts in the UK. This role requires a proactive sales professional with strong knowledge of the solar PV industry, excellent relationship management skills, and the ability to deliver sustainable sales growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sales & Business Development
    • Identify and acquire new installer customers through prospecting, networking, and market research.
    • Develop and maintain long‑term relationships with solar PV installers, EPCs, and partners.
    • Present and promote Failte Solar UK's product portfolio (modules, inverters, batteries, mounting systems, accessories).
    • Achieve and exceed monthly and quarterly sales targets.
    • Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts within company guidelines.
  • Account Management
    • Act as the main point of contact for assigned installer accounts.
    • Understand installer needs and provide tailored solutions to support their business growth.
    • Collaborate with logistics and operations teams to ensure seamless order fulfilment.
    • Monitor customer satisfaction and resolve issues promptly.
  • Market Development & Strategy
    • Analyse market trends, competitor activities, and customer feedback to identify opportunities.
    • Provide input into sales strategies, pricing models, and promotional campaigns.
    • Represent Failte Solar UK at industry events, exhibitions, and networking functions.
    • Contribute to the development of marketing materials, case studies, and sales tools.
  • Reporting & Collaboration
    • Maintain accurate sales forecasts and pipeline reports in CRM.
    • Work closely with Key Sales Managers, CRO, and wider UK/IE team to align on growth objectives.
    • Share market insights and customer feedback with management to shape product offerings.

Key Requirements

  • Proven experience in B2B sales and business development, ideally within solar PV, renewables, or electrical distribution.
  • Strong understanding of the UK solar installer market and supply chain.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Self‑motivated, target‑driven, and able to work independently.
  • Strong organisational and time‑management skills.
  • Willingness to travel across the UK for customer meetings and industry events.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and MS Office suite.
