Responsibilities
- Lead a multi‐disciplinary engineering team to deliver projects from concept through detailed design into construction.
- Ensure Health, Safety, Environmental & Sustainability standards and policies are incorporated into designs.
- Collaborate closely with clients, client representatives and third‐party agencies to develop engineered solutions.
- Develop, monitor and report on design budgets and expenditure.
- Represent the company at design review workshops and HAZOPs, ensuring timely closure of actions.
- Coordinate the role of PSDP for the design phase and manage risk assessments.
- Ensure design programmes are developed and monitored, adjusting to meet project outcomes.
- Monitor project performance, mitigate risks, manage opportunities and report monthly outcomes to the framework manager.
- Prepare costed proposals for final design and contract documentation, reviewing red‐line documents.
- Provide training, mentoring and development plans for team members.
- Participate in resource management and recruitment as a hiring manager.
- Respond to client and stakeholder complaints, obtain satisfaction surveys and drive continuous improvement.
- Keep up to date with latest standards and technology through continuous professional development.
- Perform other duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role, preferably in water and wastewater.
- Extensive knowledge of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013.
- Certificate in Designing Safely for Construction and/or PSDP Coordination preferred.
- Experience in civil and process engineering works: temporary works, bulk earthworks, tank systems, building works, process units, and M&E installations.
- Level 8 Honours Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical or Environmental Engineering.
- Ability to work under pressure and deliver project objectives.
- Collaborative skills with clients and representatives, leading design solutions.
- Good working knowledge of programme management software (e.g., Microsoft Project) and the MS Office suite.
- Strong communication skills and high motivation.
- Full driving licence.
