Jamie Oliver's Catherine Street is housed in a Grade I listed building in London's Covent Garden, an independent, produce-focused restaurant. Within the 130 cover space, diners experience their favourite dishes from Jamie along with new recipes bespoke to Catherine Street. As a member of Jamie's Pastry team, you'll be working in a dedicated, separate and wide-ranging pastry kitchen. Everything is made in house from restaurant desserts, ice‑creams, show‑stopping cakes to afternoon tea! We also cater for high profile events, so there is never a dull day! This is a unique opportunity to help us grow an exciting new venture for our business. The successful candidate will work a 42‑hour week, which will mostly cover day shifts between Monday – Sunday. There will be times that evening and late‑night shifts are required; however this role offers a great work‑life balance whilst still being a chance to learn and hone your skills.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate efficient time‑keeping, presentation, attention to detail and workflow.
- Have good pastry knowledge and skills and a willingness to learn and develop.
- Have a full understanding of COSHH, health & safety, allergens, temperature records and labelling of fridges and food, including blast chilling; maintain the highest standard of cleanliness and upkeep of equipment.
- Ensure the mise en place of the kitchen is performed to high standards required at all times.
- Maintain the high presentation, correct plating and cooking of food at all times with guidance from Pastry Head and Sous Chef.
- Maintain the standards and culture of the team by setting an example to new and existing members of staff and assisting in their training when required.
- Ensure daily, weekly and monthly cleaning duties are carried out as instructed by Pastry Head and Sous Chef.
- Communicate any issues directly to Pastry Head and Sous Chef.
- Maintain effective working relationships with Jamie Oliver Restaurant Group and LWT staff.
Qualifications
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Provide a friendly, courteous and professional service at all times.
- Maintain good working relationships with colleagues and all departments.
- Arrive punctually, wearing the correct uniform at all times, and maintain the highest standard in hygiene and grooming.
- Be flexible and extend job duties to carry out any other reasonable duties within the job capacity as assigned, including redeployment to alternative departments if required, to meet business demands and guest service needs.
- Fully understand opening and closing processes and how to write and follow a prep list.
- Demonstrate complete understanding and application of recipe knowledge and portion control.
- Carry out any other reasonable duty that may be requested by the manager.
- Attend meetings and training as and when required.
