This position has responsibility for the development and design of sealing systems for new and existing seal products for the building sector.
Main Tasks & Responsibilities
- Design solutions for new products development within the given framework of all on-site development activities.
- Provide expert assistance on thermoplastic extrusion, promoting the technology and performing specific project responsibilities.
- Lead trials, mainly in extrusion, in support of customers and internal development works, creating prototypes, analysing test data and document results in test reports.
- Foster strong collaboration with cross‑functional teams to ensure integration of innovation initiatives and product development process.
- Act as project leader on new product development, collaborating with cross‑functional teams and following new product development from concept to production release.
- Stay up to date with advancements in material technology and industry trends, incorporating new technologies into the production process as appropriate and ensuring the material choice proposed meets environmental, mechanical and sealing performance requirements.
- Organise project meetings, define project deliverables, monitor timelines and resources while reporting and challenging deviations.
- Validate new designs, processes and materials through testing, experimentation and evaluation.
- Define product functional analysis (based on standards) to translate customer specifications and internal requirements into clear product performance criteria.
- Produce written reports and make presentations to the internal team and customers.
Key Skills
- Bachelor's or master's degree or equivalent in polymer engineering, materials science, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of polymer science and technology, with a focus on thermoplastic elastomers extrusion processes.
- Proven experience in the plastics industry and time served in an engineering discipline.
- Project Management, capacity to follow innovative projects and new project development requests.
- Demonstrate a spirit of innovation, a willingness to suggest and the ability to support the implementation of modifications of existing equipment and processes.
- Flexibility in work assignments to accommodate group and personal goals.
- Proactive in learning about new and existing technologies.
- Strong design and prototyping skills, including experience with computer-aided design (CAD) software.
- An awareness of the environmental impact of design ideas.
