About the role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Design Engineer to join our engineering team. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys hands-on design work, technical problem-solving, and collaborating closely with manufacturing, service, suppliers, and customers. You will be responsible for producing high-quality mechanical designs and technical documentation that support manufacturing, assembly, and service activities, while also playing a key role in improving existing products and processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce accurate part and assembly drawings to support manufacturing
- Provide technical support to production staff, service teams, subcontractors, and customers
- Respond to service-related technical queries and contribute to root cause analysis
- Lead or contribute to joint engineering projects, offering technical guidance to team members and other departments
- Proactively review existing products, identify improvement opportunities, and take the lead on implementing design enhancements
- Liaise with suppliers and, where required, visit customer and supplier sites to support projects and technical investigations
Skills & Experience
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Proven experience in mechanical design within a manufacturing or engineering environment
- Strong CAD skills with experience producing detailed engineering drawing
