The predicted salary is between 37000 - 45000 £ per year.

This role is accountable for performing imaging procedures predominantly in MRI with some X-ray, deferring to Lead Radiographer/Centre Manager when required. This role always operates with a high degree of professionalism at all times to ensure provision of a high quality, responsive and patient focused service. This role is 34.5 hours a week.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake a wide variety of imaging examinations on different makes and models of equipment, acting as a Practitioner as defined within IR(ME)R 2017, assessing each referral and deciding whether to proceed, modify, or reject it.
  • Determine and deliver the most appropriate imaging procedures to assist with the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of patients and conditions, including discussion and refusal of requests from doctors and emergency nurse practitioners as per IR(ME)R regulations.
  • Prepare patients for imaging procedures, explain procedures, ensure patient comfort, and position patients appropriately.
  • Ensure all referrals are justified and provide advice on protocols if required.
  • Ensure patient identification and safety checks are completed before imaging examinations.
  • Produce consistently high-quality images.
  • Administer contrast media in line with PGD guidance, SOPs, and protocols.
  • Assess all images for quality and clinical significance, escalating urgent findings.
  • Complete all examinations, post-process and allocate them for reporting at the end of each day.
  • Responsible for own clinical areas regarding linen changes and cleanliness.
  • Supervise junior Radiographers and Radiographic Assistants when required, ensuring they work in line with IRR2017.
  • Maintain flexibility in working practices to ensure imaging services are staffed at all locations.
  • Adapt protocols and procedures for best practice in consultation with local radiologist and clinicians.
  • Provide clinical input to promote the service to local clinicians.
  • Act professionally within the standard and framework provided by the HCPC and College of Radiographers 'Code of Professional Conduct', maintaining active HCPC registration.
  • Maintain the highest standards of practical work and patient care, including patient privacy and dignity, and provide support and reassurance to patients.
  • Maintain a personal Continuous Professional Development portfolio in line with HCPC & SoR recommendations.
  • Update clinical practice, participate in clinical trials, and stay current with latest techniques.
  • Carry out responsibilities relating to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults, including knowledge of supporting policies and required training.
  • Contribute to the Radiation Protection Supervisors team, providing reports for the annual radiation meeting and reporting incidents and concerns with RPA support.
  • Understand safety issues and hazards associated with working on 1.5T and 3T scanners, ensuring safety guidelines are followed.
  • Conduct regular Quality Assurance tests on equipment, be responsible for patient and staff safety, and report malfunctions on the RADAR system.
  • Comply with IR (ME)R 2017 regulations and Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017, aiming to reduce radiation dose to patients, staff, and public.
  • Ensure work environments are safe and within guidelines, maintain compliance with all legislative and company policies, including CQC, SHE, DSE, Fire, COSHH, Life Support, Safeguarding, Information Security, Infection Control, and Manual Handling.
  • Contribute to risk assessments for new and current imaging locations and modalities.
  • Follow all company policies and professional standards.
  • Operate on a 7‐day roster working shift pattern.
