Responsibilities

  • Providing CDAE support and guidance across a portfolio of Transmission & Distribution civil design projects
  • Working in close collaboration with engineers from multiple disciplines to deliver coordinated, high‑quality design solutions
  • Ensuring designs meet National Grid, SSEN, and industry standards from concept through to delivery
  • Positively influencing project outcomes and helping evolve our internal processes and approach to client engagement

Essential

  • Proven experience acting as a Contractor Design Approval Engineer (CDAE) on National Grid projects
  • Strong civil design proficiency using Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D
  • Relevant experience within the Electricity Transmission & Distribution sector

Desirable

  • Ability to lead civil engineering workstreams across foundations, earthworks, drainage, buildings, and steelwork
  • Competence in producing high‑quality calculations, reports, and drawings aligned with client technical standards
  • Collaborative approach with the ability to mentor colleagues and support the wider team
  • Willingness to challenge assumptions, adapt to evolving project requirements, and contribute to continuous improvement
  • Experience supporting bid development, tender submissions, and deploying innovative solutions on projects

Qualifications

  • Chartered Civil Engineer (CEng) (MICE or MIStructE)
