We have an on-trade team supplying the best bars, restaurants, hotels and luxury retailers in the UK (The Whisky Exchange Trade), and a specialist auction platform (Whisky.Auction). With a growing international customer base and a newly refreshed brand identity, we're seeking a Creative Copywriter to bring our storytelling to life across digital, print, campaigns, and content marketing. This is a unique opportunity to shape our brand voice and engage customers through copy that is both commercially effective and creatively inspiring.
As Creative Copywriter, you will develop compelling drinks‐focussed content across a wide range of formats, from social media and email to landing pages, product descriptions, brand stories, press releases and editorial features. You'll work closely with teams across e‐commerce, marketing and creative to ensure every piece of copy is on-brand, optimised for its platform and connects with our audiences: from the curious enthusiast to the high‐value connoisseur. You'll craft engaging, commercially effective content that blends storytelling with SEO and performance, helping to drive engagement, sales and long‐term brand affinity.
Your blend of talent:
- Writing compelling product descriptions using previous knowledge and research
- Understanding legal requirements for writing about alcohol
- Crafting engaging copy for social media (organic and paid), email campaigns, PPC, SEO content and landing pages
- Writing longer‐form content including product guides, blog articles, educational features and editorial campaigns with minimal guidance
- Support PR and brand teams with storytelling content and press releases
Brand Voice & Messaging:
- Use TWE tone of voice across all touchpoints and support Lead Creative Copywriter in communicating ToV across the business
- Translate complex product and category information into accessible, benefit‐led copy
- Maintain consistency and clarity of messaging across channels, while flexing tone and format appropriately for different audiences and platforms
- Work with SEO and marketing teams to develop content that improves discoverability and organic performance
- Optimise product descriptions, headlines and CTAs for clarity, conversion and keyword relevance
- Input into testing strategies (e.g. subject lines, ad copy variants) and use performance insights to improve future output
- Liaise with design, digital marketing, e‐commerce and event leads to ensure copy aligns with campaign objectives
- Help maintain a central messaging calendar and proactively contribute ideas during brainstorms and planning sessions
- Contribute to style guide development and ensure best practices are shared across the business
Our ideal candidate:
- A wide knowledge of whisky and fine spirits with a passion for the area and a desire to learn more
- The ability to write product descriptions in alignment with a company's tone of voice with extreme attention to detail
- Experience in copywriting, ideally in a fast‐paced e‐commerce, retail or DTC environment
- Ability to write across short- and long‐form content with a balance of creativity and commercial purpose
- Strong command of written English, grammar and tone, with a flair for persuasive storytelling
- Solid working knowledge of SEO best practices, keyword strategy and how content supports online discoverability
- Experience working to deadlines and managing multiple projects across stakeholders
