Location: Langport, England, United Kingdom

Role: Shunter and Yard Operative for ABP Food Group. ABP Langport is part of the ABP UK division, supplying quality beef and related products. The role is based in a rural location; transport may be required to reach site.

Role definition: Provision of shunting and forklift services to maintain the smooth running of the plant and site and contribute to maximum operational efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate Shunter and Forklift as required according to SOPs, ensuring that all trailers are moved to the correct area and working as per procedures.
  • Maintain factory perimeters and external areas in an orderly and tidy manner at all times.
  • Ensure all non-food deliveries have appropriate paperwork; carry out all vehicular activities in a manner compliant with site Health and Safety requirements.
  • Dispose of CAT 1 and CAT 3 materials correctly and ensure appropriate paperwork is completed and retained.
  • Prepare trailers for production use in compliance with organisation operating procedures.
  • Load and unload lorries, checking goods in accordance with organisational operating procedures.
  • Monitor bone-exit conveyor and move trailers as required to prevent disruption to production or spillage of waste material.
  • Ensure maturation trailers are cleaned and functioning correctly.

Knowledge and Experience:

Essential: Ability to multitask and communicate with all levels of site staff; use own initiative; provide efficient support to operational teams; commercial mindset; self-starter able to work independently; flexible and responsive to requests; resilient; team player.

Desirable: Holding appropriate vehicle licences and responsibility for maintaining licenses.

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 10:00 – 19:00

Rate: £15.50 per hour

Benefits: Social hours; cycle to work; pension; on-site Occupational Health Nurse; and additional employee incentives and welfare support.
