ABP Food Group is a food business that specialises in the supply and development, producing award-winning British and Irish beef and lamb products for retail, foodservice and wholesale. ABP Kingswinford is part of the ABP UK division within the ABP Food Group aiming to provide quality lamb to thousands of customers across the world.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Health, Safety & Training Manager at our Kingswinford site.

Role summary: Implementing, coordinating and managing health, safety and training policies and procedures to agreed ABP UK standards in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment where the health & safety of ABP UK workers is paramount.

Responsibilities:

  • Carrying out regular and comprehensive risk assessments and maintaining records to ensure management have access to up-to-date safety records.
  • Assisting in maintaining standard operating procedures, which identify and take account of all relevant hazards both current and new.
  • Oversee that safe working procedures are developed and implemented and assist with reviewing and writing new processes and procedures.
  • Ensure the continuous maintenance and development of Health and Safety Policies and Procedures.
  • Maintain a working knowledge and comply with all national and local regulations, standards, codes and company policies and advise employees and management on regulatory issues.
  • Build positive relations with all employees, managers and external contractors and represent ABP and its interests.
  • COSHH assessments - review and complete accordingly.
  • Carry out daily plant walks and report on findings.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of in-house training and management of training records and compliance reporting thereon.
  • Compiling incident and accident statistics and supporting the company's objectives for an incident-free culture.
  • Perform internal Health and Safety Audits and prepare for external Health and Safety Audits.
  • Always comply with company policy and procedure on safe food handling and hygiene.
  • Carry out monthly H&S meetings with site management team and site H&S champions.
  • Responsible for H&S induction for all new employees.
  • Daily site policing of all departments to proactively ensure compliance.
  • Establish a positive cultural attitude towards health and safety.
  • Identify training requirements in the workforce and follow up accordingly.
  • Investigate and attend all accidents/incidents that occur and collate all information and create reports accordingly.
  • Provide assistance with all audits, both internal and external.
  • Maintain training files and matrix and ensure sign-offs are up to date and audit-ready at all times.
  • Responsible for audiometry testing on site.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Evidence of carrying out a similar role and a track record of maintaining and developing a safe working environment.
  • Experience of working within an FMCG environment.
  • Good IT skills and competent in Excel.
  • Experience in training with strong presentation skills and the ability to train staff at all levels.
  • Ability to promote a positive Health and Safety culture in the workplace.
  • Trainer the Trainer qualification desirable but not essential.
  • NEBOSH General Certificate [or equivalent] as a minimum.
  • Past experience with legionella management desirable.
  • Past experience with safety management of pallet racking desirable.
