The HubSpot Product Owner is accountable for owning HubSpot as a core business platform, ensuring it has a clean, scalable data foundation that supports reliable reporting, operational efficiency and future AI enablement. The role owns the data model, system architecture, integrations and governance of HubSpot, acting as the single point of accountability for how the platform evolves. A key focus is preventing the accumulation of technical debt by setting clear standards, guardrails and decision frameworks for change. Alongside technical and data ownership, the role works closely with HubSpot users across Customer Success, Sales, Marketing and Finance to ensure the platform meets real operational needs, drives adoption, and delivers tangible value rather than becoming a theoretical or overengineered system.

Varied day to day responsibilities:

  • HubSpot Platform Ownership: Own HubSpot as a product and platform, with end-to-end accountability for structure, stability and long-term scalability. Define and maintain the target state HubSpot architecture, ensuring consistency across teams and use cases. Act as the final decision-maker on what is built in HubSpot and why. Own HubSpot as a product through the rebuild and transformation programme, ensuring the platform is rebuilt to a clean, governed target state that supports scale, MI and AI enablement. Ensure rebuild decisions are driven by long-term platform health and user outcomes, not short-term delivery convenience.
  • Data Model & Single Source of Truth: Own the HubSpot data model, including objects, properties, associations and lifecycle definitions. Ensure the data model reflects how the business actually operates, rather than forcing multiple processes into inappropriate structures. Set and enforce standards for property creation, naming conventions, required fields and definitions.
  • Data Governance & Quality: Establish and run a HubSpot data governance framework, including ownership, rules, documentation and change control. Prevent uncontrolled changes that lead to duplication, confusion and reporting inconsistency. Ensure data quality supports trusted MI, forecasting and operational decision making.
  • Integrations & Architecture: Own the approach to system integrations, including sequencing, data flows and source-of-truth decisions. Ensure integrations support a consistent, joined-up view of customers across the lifecycle. Act as supplier owner for HubSpot and related partners, managing roadmap alignment and delivery quality.
  • User Needs, Adoption & Continuous Improvement: Work directly with HubSpot users across Customer Success, Sales, Marketing and Finance to understand needs, pain points and priorities. Translate user feedback into a clear, prioritised platform roadmap. Ensure new capabilities land successfully through clear communication, guidance and enablement. Balance user needs with governance, avoiding short-term fixes that create long-term problems.
  • Permissions, Roles & Access: Define and maintain a clear roles and permissions model to protect sensitive data and system integrity. Ensure users have appropriate access without compromising data quality or compliance.

What we are looking for in a candidate:

  • Proven experience owning a CRM or RevOps platform (HubSpot preferred).
  • Strong understanding of data modelling, system architecture and integrations.
  • Experience establishing and enforcing platform governance and standards.
  • Track record of preventing technical debt in scaled CRM environments.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, working effectively with both technical and nontechnical users.
  • Comfortable operating as a platform owner, not a delivery-only or admin role.

What is life like at SmartSearch?

  • We are a multi-award winning Tech company with an aspirational mentality.
  • Recent recognitions include: RegTech100 list for 2024, Top 100 Fastest Growing Tech Companies by Northern Tech Awards 2024, Technology Provider of the Year by Corporate Finance Awards 2024.
  • Great Place To Work Certified since 2022.
  • Excellent progression opportunities with personal development goals, regular feedback and support.
  • Diverse and inclusive team committed to Diversity & Inclusion and Social Responsibility, DE&I initiatives and community impact.

Company benefits:

  • 25 days holiday rising to 30 with each year of service.
