Role Definition
The TVI Slicer Operator is responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient operation of the TVI slicing equipment to ensure all steaks are cut to customer specification with consistent quality, weight control, thickness, and presentation. Paying special regard to: health, safety & ethics; product safety, authenticity and integrity; labelling, company, personal & food hygiene rules and legislation.
Key Responsibilities
- Equipment Set‑Up & Pre‑Operational Checks: Complete all pre‑start checks on the TVI slicer and associated equipment. Select correct slicing programs for each product. Verify calibration and alignment before production.
- Slicing to Specification: Ensure steaks meet thickness and visual specifications. Monitor slice consistency and adjust settings as needed. Stop and elevate issues if product is out of spec. Achieve target yields and monitor giveaway. Adjust slicing parameters based on weight checks.
- Quality & Traceability: Complete raw material pre‑slice checks. Verify traceability before slicing begins. Escalate any integrity or quality issues.
- Operational Flow & Line Efficiency: Maintain organised slicing area and optimal flow. Prevent bottlenecks through communication. Make proactive decisions to minimise downtime.
- First‑Line Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Carry out basic machine resets and clearances. Report ongoing faults to Engineering. Support planned and reactive maintenance.
- Food Safety, GMP & Hygiene: Follow GMP and hygiene standards. Handle tools and equipment safely. Maintain a clean working environment.
- Communication & Teamwork: Communicate with key departments clearly. Report issues early and accurately. Support training of new operators.
